Just imagine the trades we could make and still not give up a high valued forward.

Intresting to see what the sum of all parts would add up to though..... I don't think you're getting a top flight player even for 3 or 4 of those type of players....
If we truly need to get rid of some contracts which we do for waiver purposes, why not package them for more picks, obviousy depending on FA. |

I know it's a risk, but what if we dangle Nylander for one of the top goalie prospects that are soon to emerge (Blackwood, Gibson, etc.)?
Would you do it considering if we do draft a goalie or two this year, they won't be ready for at least 3-4 years? We aren't really depleting our prospect depth as we are adding a possible starter for the next 10-12 years...... - PhilMcCracken
That's a big move this early in the rebuild. I think, with the realization that they won't be competing for a cup for at least 4-5 years, they need to go get an older stopgap for the time being, and draft goaltenders that you think could become a matt murray after said 4-5 year window. |

Think of it this way. The only top 10 pick moved for a goalie was Schneider. That was a 10th overall pick (lower value than Nylander) for a PROVEN, VETERAN goalie.
I like the idea of getting a young goalie but Nylander is an over payment. We can probably get Andersen for the pens first and prospect. Much less to give away than Nylander. - Steven_Dean
We could always have the other team sweeten the deal. I don't think packaging up some of the younger mid-tier players would get it done and that's why I did mention Willy.... unless we deal with one of the moronic GM's. |

It was actually 9th overall. ....but yeah, no way you deal a prospect like Nylander for a young goalie that may or may not pan out. Way too high-risk. |

I would think this vision changes slightly if we sign Stammer. If we then add Andersen at probably 5-6 million or MAF, what does it look for us cap-wise down the road? |

It's really sad, because if for some reason we ended up getting Jones instead of Bernier in the trade with LA, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.... |

I'm not overly concerned about the cap down the road personally. Laich, Greening and Robidas and Cowen come off the books after this season, Lupul and Gleason after the next. |

Risky? Yes. There is still no guarantee Willy is going to be the player we hope he will be.. as you said way too early to tell. One thing that does bother me about his play is that he does play a little soft. How this translates over an 82 game schedule plus playoffs remians to be seen. No doubt, the kid has tons of skill and holds alot of value right now. |

Again though unless you get a proven veteran, trading Nylander for a goalie is dumb. And if you look at the returns for every goalie in the past few years, a first and prospect will get you Andersen assuming there is no bidding war (and considering how many goalies could be available in response to expansion) this is likely what you get. |

Just stop with the whole "no guarantee on his development" thing. In the same argument we should move Mattthews for Matt Murray right now. Just no. |

One would think Jaromir Jagr would be the perfect captain for the Las Vegas new team.
Even if it would only be one year |
