Agreed. Started off last year pretty well.
Play him if healthy. See what he can do. If he plays well it helps, if he gets injured he opens room for someone else. - burn
Agree - was one of the best players on the team when healthy. |

ya...gonna get Shattenkirk with Bozak
Don't dare talk about trading a good player though ( fair trade )...or people try to run you out of the thread.

But if he's leaving and they need a 3rd line C, Bozak kind of fits the bill.
If we need to part with a prospect like Brown, as well as the PIT pick, I probably would still do it.
We'd at least have a strong top 4

I don't think that's the case here, player only signed through to next year do not need to be protected. Rules still have not fully been explained but contract status and injury status are bones of contention right now. Apparently, Leafs may have to protect Horton. - winsix
Don't think so. They were told that Horton is ok and Carrick is definitely in the mix. He's entering his 4th year and already has over 50 games in the NHL. |

The union would never allow him to be treated unfairly. I suspect his injuries are worse than we know - or at least are unknown. LTIR doesn't begin until the season starts so they've got a few months to figure it all out. - The Law
I am pretty sure the Union answers to uncle Lou. |

According to the leaks from the weekend guys like Horton and clowe with career ending injuries won't have to be protected. |

Trading Brown now would be one of the dumbest things they could do..
Especially just for a 3/4D... |

You like him better than Barrie? Shattenkirk, will be looking at a huge raise next year, Barrie at 24 will be cheaper and is controlable for 3 more years. Shattenkirk (aka William Shatner Kirk) is UFA next year and will be wanting big payday, somewhere between Phaneuf and Subban. Just saying - unless we can sign him to an extension as part of any deal, rental players don't make much sense for the Leafs in 2016-17

I would think a contract would be done before the trade....or at least discussed.

Not sure why you guys still have a question with Lupul's status...
1. He is having/had an abdominal surgery that takes a LONG time to heal.
2. LL already said he doesn't think he will play this year.
Lupul, Horton and Robidas are all on LTIR.
Done. |
