This is the first time in a loooong time I've gone into a new season with this much trepidation. I posted in an earlier blog that this is either going to work perfectly or it's going to be a dumpster fire disaster, there will be no in between. I agree 100% with you Ed, if this goes as bad as I fear Bob Murray is done too. Give Dave McNab a shot at the GM position.

Reading that Carlyle is one of the worst possession coaches driven by a league that all the champs are high in possession. Advanced analytics are the new norm and to have a guy living in the 80's! I hate this hire again. You need possession to win in the postseason. I wanted to give it a night and woke up this morning thinking it was still a nightmare. Like everyone else I hope I am wrong, but what I've been reading and git feeling is I won't be.

He addressed that (possession stats). The sky isn't falling. It's a 2 year deal, with a option for #3. He knows the goal is to win now. You can't hire someone with zero NHL experience and tell them you need to win the Cup. But you can tell Carlyle that. That's the expectation now and Carlyle knows it. Just make the playoffs, that's all that matters. Just hope if we do we don't face Minny.

I didn't know it was a 2 year deal. I like that a lot more. Walrus was still my choice even though I read he wasn't even in on the final 3. Facing Minny would be awful unless Minny was up 3-2 with game 7 at home ice.

Lindholm my be a number one dman in 2 years . Fowler's a number 2. Vatanen, depres are number 3 s . What carlyle really needs is a young getzlaf , perry , and kesler .

Wierd thing about this offseason is the value of d -men . It seems to be going up . But I'm not sure if thats completely good or bad for us . Because on one hand we need to sign some longterm contracts with some of our own d-men . Which is bad because we might have too pay more .On the flip side the trade value seems high too . Which is good because that means if we trade we can get a better return. I hope bob murry is being real careful.
