The vocal minority in there are, for the most part, extremely sensitive homers who lack the ability to challenge the status-quo of their counterparts and think for themselves.

Something like that could work. Although I would almost prefer more coming back if he doesn't re-sign. Like the STL 2017 1st and 2nd because chances are their 2016 1st is going to be 20+ so trading a #4 pick for a 20+ pick and only a year of Shattenkirk still feels gross.

The more I think about it being a 1st+2nd in 2017, the more I like it. Obviously I would love Chia to get more than a 1st in conditional assertion if Shattenkirk doesn't want to resign, but there is a limit. However, if he can get a conditional assertion of 1+2+3, hats off to Chia.

Nonetheless, would we really be mad if Shattenkirk was a piece of the puzzle that got us into the playoffs? Even if that was his only year? I mean, even if he doesn't resign, think about it like this: we would get conditional picks, he would be a mentor and guide for Klefbom and our younger guys, our value as a Free Agency market team would definitely increase, and say we got into the playoffs during Shattenkirk's tenure with Edmonton (Which definitely seems like he pulled a pronger, except Pronger is 1000000x better), THE PLAYOFFS!
