I look forward to seeing him qualified then - Matt_Henderson
They won't qualify him because his contract is to rich, but I can see them offering him a deal at around 2 million once he hits free agency. |

The mistake was failing to play Schultz in the right manner. I suppose much of it had to do with the oilers inability to do so with no other viable options.
While There's some truth to the haters pointing out oiler fans piling it on Schultz for being played way over his head. Which of course wasn't his fault .
There's still not a word Matt wrote that isn't true
Attempting to use a narrative that Schultz was some key cog or that he was always great and couldn't show it because of Edm being inept, is total bs. As is attempting to play off the blog as "bitter".
Bitter about what? We traded a guy that wasn't what we needed, and he won elsewhere. Good on em
Low, easy, sheltered mins. Pp.
the pens played him perfectly - HB77
Hers the thing with Schultz. The Oilers played him too many minutes because, even tho he struggled, he was better than everyone else prior to this last season.
That's right. He was better than Nikitin, Belov, Ferrence, Klefbom ( ok,only for like a couple months in the 14-15 season), Nurse, and even Petry for the majority of time they were both Oilers.
That's right, he was better. Those guys were either too young, too old, or just plain pooptier.
None of that was Schultz fault.

Ok so there was a lame Facebook article that suggested Dustin Brown might get bought by the Kings.
I know he has declined in the last couple seasons, but if he does become a free agent, could he help the Oilers bottom 6 at a reasonable price/term? |

I'd sign Brown for the right price. 2 for 2? He'd probably want closer to what CZ signed for. |

He might be. Money talks but he got that in Edmonton . Would he go somewhere where the situation is not as ideal,, just because they have the cap space to pay him?
Sometimes I wonder if players are afraid they'll get injured or don't have confidence in themselves, but wouldn't it be wise in Schultz's case to take a pay cut and grow as player in Pittsburgh without all the preasure and hope to cash in down the road? He's 25 for (frank)s sake, I would hope the NHL hasn't seen the best Jultz has to offer. |

Yeah, I'm not gay, nor do I have anything against homosexuals, in fact I am willing to stand up for their rights at any time.
Do YOU have an issue with that?
The definition of the word I used in this context is " Lame".
Now go back to eating that bowl of paint chips you were crushing. |

yeah exactly. he could turn the next 2 years into a very matt niskanen like trajectory if he wants to and is able to.
once promising offensive guy picked up off the scrapheap. comes, gets a sheltered role, kills the stats department while hopefully honing his craft and expanding his overall game. departs at 27 and cashes in big time somewhere else. |

As usual an Edmonton sore loser. Just because Edmonton could not find a way to build a team is not the fault of J Schultz. He was put in a no win situation in Edmonton and Nick Lidstrom probably would have been a loser on that team. Quit ragging on a player because he found success somewhere else. Worry about your own bunch of losers. Wah Wah Wah |

And you lose all credibility with said statement.
Schultz found success with the Pens. True. Was he a huge part of the Pens success? No. |

happy for Schultz, leaving a crappy situation in Edm and winning a Cup but lets be realistic here, Stevie Wonder could have played the same minutes and had the same result, in no way was Schultz a "key member" on the Pens Cup winning team.
I have to agree. Schultz took a chance on the Oil. Kruegar gave him great support and he helped the Oilers immensely his first year. Helping the Oilers be among the top teams in terms of PP. Often played with 4 forwards and him. I think MacT and Eakins stunted his development like they did with guys like Nail. I like Justin's chances of being a steady 3-4 defender and its great that he gets that chance. |

Maybe. Seems like the bottom 6 have options already but I like the idea of Leon running a talented third scoring line.
I was wondering the same thing about Vanek. The Oilers were always big on him and even though the management has changed he still might be a worthy gamble at the right price tag. He is fast, big and has big offensive talent. Might be a solid addition to the Oilers top 6. |

Nobody stunted his development. He was simply leaned upon too heavily for lack of better options. |
