Not taking anything away from Okposo, however he his 28 years old and you're probably going to end up giving him 5yr 30M contract.

His age and the way he plays the game will take a toll on him. I'm not saying he can't have a good couple seasons or so, but he will eventually be hitting a wall. I can see how some GMs might have an issue giving that type of contract to him.

IMO, he goes to Arizona. They have to spend money. They have no choice. They will give him the $6MM+ a year contract.

I'm going to be honest, I don't know if I like the Malkin deal. He's 31 or going to be 31 and he has 7 years at 9.5 mill a year left, don't think that's a good deal for the Sabres to take on with what we are trying to do.

This exact same thing can be said of Hall. He plays a very physical game, to the point of recklessness at times. He's missed a decent amount of time himself over the years.

Yet, we all want Taylor Hall at 6MM signed for the next 5 years?

I understand that Hall is the better player, and younger.

Okposo is no scrub.

Okposo in the last three years has more Points/GP than:

Hall
Datsyuk
Perry
ROR
Toews
Voracek
Spezza
Kessel
Parise
Zetterberg
Duchene

All players who make more than 5.5MM, Just to name a few.

- ImThatGuy

Over the last 3 years

Perry has 200
Toews has 192
Voracek has 198
Spezza has 191
Kessel has 200
Duchene has 184

Okposo has 184

I have said many times I feel you need one of those guys for each of your top 3 lines

kane can do it
not sure if ror can or not on a regular basis, he doesn't take the cheap penalties
folgino, not sure what he is yet, which is scary after many years
girgens, see foligno

then it comes down to what player are they on a decent team

foligno, 3rd line, 4th line, 2nd line?
girgens 3rd line, second line, winger or center?
ror IMO is a second line center on a really good team, could be a winger on first line
kane, I could see him on any line, but I do not see him signing an extension

I would not be shocked if the sabres drafted logan brown at 8, given his size, 2 way game, vision, shot and the fact he is projected as lw or center

foligno is pretty much a 4th liner 90% of the time and a 3/2 liner the other 10

I agree. But at the same time, you have to expect that any of those guys you have are going to miss some time with an injury every year. It's the nature of the beast.

As far as Foligno goes, I think he had a very solid year and played his most consistent hockey. The changes in coaching and all of that in the duration of what really is still a young career didn't help his cause any. Now that there's consistency there, I expect to see consistency in his game from last year to this year as well.

93 points in 267 games

roughly 30 points a year is 3rd line production

Saying "I don't want a 6 year contract" and "he's a scrub" is two widely different opinions.

Even so Okposo doesn't make players around him better.

He's 28
Looking for a 6-7 yr deal
Wants 6+ per

I like the player but his injury history, age, term want, and salary demands says no thank you.
