Ok, I see something along the lines of death in the family for the first game he missed. Got a ding for 3 games. Maybe the flu for a week? Then the concussion. His first real injury where he missed time. Then the ankle. What point are you trying to make? That he's only been hurt where he's missed significant time twice? And the second time more than likely resulting from coming back too early from the first. The third stint was still just him trying to play through the ankle injury and the Sabres having nothing to play for. Had we been in the race I guarantee he'd have been out there.

Now having said all that. If he misses a chunk of time, say 7+ games(guys get sick and miss a week and that's no ones fault really) next year then I'll be the first to slap the "injury prone" and "glass man" stickers on him.

- Wetbandit1

The first three related to the birth of his child.

He had a horrible concussion and a complicated ankle injury. He came back too early for the ankle.

If he gets injured significantly this year, we reevaluate. Right now I don't think "injury prone" fits.

I think the chances of this happening will improve significantly once the Vegas team is announced. With the expansion draft rules in place, it sounds like both Tampa and Pittsburgh will have to trade one of their stud goalies. Calgary and Toronto are both looking and are obvious dance partners. This will mean 2 fewer "#1" goalie options for Johnson to pursue.

I hope we resign him. He was a pleasant surprise and the crazy Swede seems injury prone. We need a solid back-up and Ulmark needs some seasoning in Rochester.

He got a concussion. He wasn't able to exercise for 6-8 months, then injures his leg because of a lack of conditioning. He came back prior to being 100%. He didn't need to play so he sat out to rest. 1 led to 2 and 3. Hardly injury prone. Let the guy come back healthy first, for (frank) sakes.

Trump did call Florida on the first day after the tragedy: he said all this news has devalued his properties and he should get a tax reduction.

Funny that the states that rail against the federal gov't are always the first ones in line for a federal handout when a disaster hits their state. Also funny that there are states that give away more to their citizens as "handouts", (ie food stamps, welfare, etc,) than they bring in in taxes, and they are all in the South.

I truly don't understand the hate for Okposo. He's a perfectly capable top 6 forward.

My concern with giving him something fairly size-able and long term is the fact that his eye injury could pop up at any time and could potentially be career ending.

I think he's a good player though.

See this is valid concern, I have the same. It is why I only do a max of 4 years.

Him being called a scrub, is wildly off base.

5-5.5 is to much for him, let another team sign him.

It took him awhile to really find his game and stuff. That could be why people say that. They're not looking at the whole picture.

As far as I remember, he's played the last few years with Tavares. So my hope would be that his numbers aren't just inflated because of that. Though at this point, we have Eichel so it's not like he would be playing with guys way less talented than Tavares here.

Yet, we all want Taylor Hall at 6MM signed for the next 5 years?

I understand that Hall is the better player, and younger.

Okposo is no scrub.

Okposo in the last three years has more Points/GP than:

Hall
Datsyuk
Perry
ROR
Toews
Voracek
Spezza
Kessel
Parise
Zetterberg
Duchene

All players who make more than 5.5MM, Just to name a few.

I was hoping someone would use this as a counter argument against the Hall/Okposo. Can the same be said for Hall, he has gotten to play with, Eberle, McDavid, RNH.

Not just Eichel either
ROR
Kane
Reinhart

He would compliment the top 6 nicely.

If Hall is worlds better, playing with the better talent around him, why is Okposo scoring at the same rate?

Plus, you just going to ignore the bottom of that post all together?

Exactly. This isn't the years of past where we're like, "well, he can play with (insert mediocre player here), that isn't too much of a drop off, right?"

Not taking anything away from Okposo, however he his 28 years old and you're probably going to end up giving him 5yr 30M contract.

His age and the way he plays the game will take a toll on him. I'm not saying he can't have a good couple seasons or so, but he will eventually be hitting a wall. I can see how some GMs might have an issue giving that type of contract to him.
