I really do not understand why people want him moved

The leafs greatest asset depth is their prospect pool.

If a team is willing to move a young top pairing d man it will be due to cap concerns. So that team will be most likely looking for picks/prospects.

And JVR will likely be getting a lot more $ on his next contract

- Dozzer

His contract is mint. Don't move him this year, but if we aren't competing and will have to give him a big pay day, this is where his value long term comes into play. Especially if we have Stammer.

Bozak could easily handle that as well.

Even though he gets it handed to him with less responsibility?

No matter what happens in the off season, I think he'll play 9 games for sure.
- Fakepartofme

Yup, and if he does well and shows he can handle it they keep him.

The memorial cup run this year showed me that marner can play a full NHL season without fading towards the end.

I don't get the idea of trading Kadri. He had a great season last season. He wants to win as a maple leaf.

Thornton
Pavelski
Couture

Crosby
Malkin
Staal

It's not like teams have one with having 3 number 1 or 2 centres.

That wouldn't help.

Out of the 4 top 6 winger slots they have 1... And he is in the early stages of his prime years and has developed into the leafs most effective net presence

- Dozzer

I think JVR is a great player.
But I feel he's not the best fit for Babcock's system.

Marner and Nylander have to be on top 2 lines as well as wingers coming season.

As opposed to you, I feel these guys are ready.

my ideal FW lines for Leafs coming season would be:

Schwartz - Stamkos - Marner
Nylander - Matthews - Kadri
Soshnikov - Sobotka - Komarov
Leivo - Laich - Michalek

Bozak, JVR traded.
Stamkos, Schwartz, Sobotka added.
Michalek, Komarov can move up if any of the younger guys cannot deal with the topline minutes.

Yeah.. theres no way they move Kadri to wing.. He plays best at centre.

I disagree with this all together.

Pure satire, but the small print at the bottom is pretty funny, you have to admit at least that.

I think it will seriously depend on where the leafs feel they are at come the trade deadline in 2017-18

If they feel they're getting close they keep him... If the prospects don't pan out as well as everyone hopes setting back the rebuild yeah, I can see him getting moved.

But if they do feel they're close they are t going to move a big top line winger in the middle of his prime. He will get resigned.

Ya it would be short term only.
However, if we dont sign stammer, neither are going anywhere so its moot.

the team is rebuilding and bozak is 30

he will be well into his declining years by the time the leafs are actually competitive

- Dozzer

I think we basically agree on this. Depends how competitive they are in his contract year and yes, how the prospects pan out. In Hunter we Trust!!!!

Weren't you the one singing Matthews 3:16 last year or was that Aetherial?

Jesus. I can only imagine the fun on here if we trade Kadri away and he ends up winning a cup elsewhere.

“I don’t know who else it could be from,” said the vendor. “Obviously there are no Stanley Cup champions here in Toronto. Phil may have a bigger waistline than most hockey players, but he has an even bigger heart. I’m happy for him and I miss seeing his face every day and sometimes twice a day.”

It was always a Mexico City expansion team...
Auston Matthews could be the face of the team, being Mexican himself..
(jokes aside, it would still make more sense to have a team in Mexico City than in Arizona..)

Kadri doesn't work on the wing. Why put the better player on he wing?
- burn

Look at SJS. Thornton, Pavelski and Couture. 3 center on one line and they made it work.

Just because it didn't go to well with one coach doesn't mean you can't try it again.

Bah you knew what I meant.

Still ridiculous. Your argument over Arizona is moot. We all know Arizona sucks, but Bettman won't let the dream die because he doesn't want to be proven wrong.
