So trade Bozak for 5th rounder or trade Kadri for a solid D man
Hmmm, 1 helps us 1 doesn't.
Stammer
Matthews
Nylander
That's why he's talking about moving Kadri
I Like Kadri but if he's going to be used sparingly then why would we keep him? - Garnie
Kadri will be the number one C to start the season... IF the leafs are able to land stamkos then kadri slides down to number 2
matthews, as good as he is, wont be tossed into the fire in season 1 before he proves he can handle it |

BRING UP THE CLUNE for those games - Garnie
The need to sign Clune first.
Matt Martin might be a choice for the Leafs come this July. |

For sure - more the season after I'm thinking - if Matthews is as good as they say he is it may be sooner. |

i am more than okay with kadri being a third line C as the league seems to be shifting to 3 scoring lines and 1 checking line
look at kessel for instance... line 3... and everybody went ape poop over his production in these playoffs
i still like a komarov kadri soshnikov checking line... all three players play a tough, pest like game and they can still put the puck in the net |

You move Kadri to the wing. Players will go down with injuries. That's how we got Holland for a 2nd rnd pick. - zazzle
If Stamkos comes to TO, Kadri will be the #2 C for the season and Matthews #3, with Nylander sliding to the wing.
If no Stamkos, Kadri will be #1C, Nylander #2 and Matthews #3.
2017 - 2018 season will be different.

and here I though the Leafs signing Kadri to a 6 year deal might kill the trade stuff |

i smile when people post their projected lineups and line one is JVR Matthews and Marner
there is 0 chance Babcock builds his top line using two 19 year old rookies
maybe in a year or two sure... but not this season |

not only signed... but to a cap friendly deal
when he 28-29 years old that contract will be sweet |

The lines will be in a blender all season long, but yeah, rookies will play less than top line minutes for sure. |

I would slot Brown in over Soshnikov, I think he has a more complete game and better vision. The last Leafs game he played where he got 3 points, him and Kadri were showing some great chemistry, something that has been somewhat difficult for kadri to find in his years as a Leaf. |

Exactly my thought . He'll be on 2nd line wing, especially if JVR gets moved.
Marner, Nylander, Kadri on wing. Stamkos and Matthews C.
Bozak third line with Komarov and Soshnikov.
If JVR stays, he'll be the 4th winger for top 2 lines.
If he is traded (for a top pairing d or a legitimate starting goalie) then Leafs would have to fill the position (or use Lupul/Michalek/Hyman/Brown). |

i can see a someone like nylander being moved up to play the wing on a line with JVR and Kadri
(i am basing this on the fact that the leafs do not have stamkos at this point of course)
matthews penciled in as 2C but given wingers with some experience (like komarov)
marner... i can see him playing more sheltered minutes on a 3rd line with someone like bozak, because if marner's play making ability translates to the NHL it will inflate Bozak's stats (as a 3rd line they will face more secondary defenses) which would allow the leafs to move him more easily |

JVR is not getting moved. he is the only non rookie top 6 winger the leafs have |

1C?
handle it, yes. its becoming pretty obvious that he isnt part of the future plans tho... like phaneuf he will be used in situations that will boost his stats so LouLams can move him |

Would be good to keep. But people have to realize, if we sign stammer, we have needs elsewhere. Who would bring back more? Bozak or Kadri? |

I also would like to see how he handles that move if it happens. Get a sense of his character and maturity. |

We'll see.
Like I said above, like to keep Kadri, but if we sign stammer....we'll get a better return for Kadri.
However, If we sign stammer, I believe they will keep both for a little while. |
