Hansons speed is an asset I dont care to lose. Who do you replace that immense speed?
We'd be better off keeping Hanson, unless its for something like a 1st round pic in top 15....not debating if thats fair just saying unless its towards something like that you keep his speed.

If we could get even a late first early second for hansen its worth it, he would just be taking up a spot for expansion, would much rather trade him for future assets and sign a UFA, Hansen shouldnt be in the top 6 at all if we want a successful season, and id by far rather virtanen on the third line. Or even Rodin

Virtanen can cruise, Sutter is a fast skated, never seen Rodin play so im not sure how fast he is. And this was the first season hansens speed actually was useful, normally hes on a breakaway and screws up

I agree with this. They want to be a competitive team, but they wont be contenders so positioning for life after expansion should be the focus. That means no NMC's so that the Lucic's, Brouwer's and Laad's can all be left unprotected. The homegrown should be the priority when it comes to protection, not these aging UFA signings

Gotta give to get. He is at his absolute peak value, with 22 goals last season and a cap friendly contract. He's a nice piece to have, but we have other needs right now.

But nice pick-ups by Pitts; Haglin, Bonino, and Kessel all in the same season. That cheap contract of bonino's gave Pittsburgh a lot of flexibility. Good player/roster management.

Edler's best years on the PP came with Salo (booming shot) and Erhoff (who was the best offensive D we had in the good years). He just hasn't been that good since...

He is useful in almost all situations, he can play with the twins if Eriksson gets injured, and his contract runs for a few more years so we can trade him for picks at the deadline or next summer if necessary. No reason to sell him off just yet, despite his value being high.

Watching the last couple games it felt like Letang for Pit and Polak for SJ were on the ice 50 minutes a game

I agree he is useful, but he is too valuable to not sell now. We saw how Vrbata's value fell off a cliff, I think you explore an option to acquire a young player, perhaps an RFA on a team with tight cap to replace him, but you move him this summer (I think even waiting until after the world cup is a risk). With Hansen in the lineup, the team is borderline playoffs, and without him they are a little less likely but neither option has them as contenders which is why he should be sold high

Tough call. Vey can distribute the puck better, Hansen can retrieve it. Either way, it's probably safe to say that if either one gets significant PP time next year it's probably not going to be a very good PP.

He is good on the penalty kill, but i mean anyone can play anywhere in a lineup, its whether or not they belong there, Hansen doesnt belong in the top 6. He was with the sedins to pump his stats up this season trade him while values high.

I agree, thought he would be fired by the summer time. He made some truly bizarre trades and the team was a disaster half way through the season. I'm still shocked the Penguins won and won easy. I thought WAS would steamroll them. It goes to show, that anybody can win if you make the playoffs. I find it hilarious that some posters would prefer a high draft pick to a wild card spot in the playoffs

Look at Hansens point totals throughout his career, he is very consistant, and he's not old. I don't expect to see an immediate drop off, whereas with Vrbata we all knew he was streaky, one year up one year down.
