You think he's awesome, but don't want to have a go at him right now as you think he's going downhill from here? You don't think he has, maybe 5 amazing years left as a #1 C? Malkin with the Twins?

At this juncture of the franchise, not a chance! Malkin is a great player, his accomplishments and his numbers speak for themselves. 129 points in 124 playoff games and 760 points in 644 games says he's pretty damn effective!

Malkin turns 30 on July 31st, his best days are behind him and he does get injured a lot. If you're going to throw 10 million at a center, you throw it at Stamkos, who's four years younger.

And would cost only cap space not assetts

Everything changed for the Pens when Bonino arrived on the scene. Smart trade.
- bloatedmosquito

Actually Bonino sucked for the first half of the year, it wasn't till Malkin got injured and Bonino went up to the HBK line that it came together for him.

50-1 Odds says it all. Hopefully we get better luck at the lottery this time!

Now is a good time to put down $1000 on Van to win the cup next year!!

Teams not in a position to win now, it's my opinion they should be building towards the future. The assets it'd cost to land Malkin would hurt the future.

Kind of weird how the canucks have the same odds as the coyotes...the (frank)IN coyotes!

Congrats on the SC.

Funny how the day after you come in here to troll a Canucks thread, get a life.

So, As The Penguins blow the doors off the Sharks with Speed and Skill, Benning seems to be loading up on Size and Toughness

We just traded for Gudbranson, has there been any more trades or signings of size and toughness? I heard Guddy has learned to skate...

the only thing dim is your moronic post. This year a small skilled team won and next year it will be a mobile physical team or a large puck possession team. The "winning model" changes every year and only a moron would continually alter their strategy annually (like yourself). I well constructed team will have a balance of size, grit, speed, skill as well as a blend of youth and veterans

Benning has always preached speed and youth, not size and toughness. Please at least attempt to be factual with your posts in the future.

Jim Benning must be hard at work on the phones, trying to bring our odds up to 100:1...

Not sure if someone posted this in an earlier blog or not

Friedman: Sources saying that Scott Hartnell has agreed to waive his no-movement clause for several teams. Sounding like it’s a decent-sized list. He has three years left on his contract.

Some talk that the Vancouver Canucks prefer Logan Brown.

One GM on the Canucks: “One of the free-agent wingers is going there. Just have to figure out which one.”

Among the players the Columbus Blue Jackets interviewed in-depth: Jake Bean, Logan Brown, Clayton Keller, Jesse Puljujarvi and Matthew Tkachuk.

Maybe that Hartnell trade for moving up or getting a 2nd rounder isnt so far fetched, if theyre interested in anyone below JP

ya whatever….everything changed when Mike Sullivan came on board. Boner sucked the first half of the year, his play stepped up when Malkin got hurt in January and they put him between Haglin and Kessel.

He was great for them in the playoffs though!

- LeftCoaster

I know. Just (frank)ing around.

But nice pick-ups by Pitts; Haglin, Bonino, and Kessel all in the same season. That cheap contract of bonino's gave Pittsburgh a lot of flexibility. Good player/roster management.

Edit: turning castoffs into a championship roster

I figured if anything, Columbus might have to pay to unload Hartnell's contract, let alone get a 2nd.

I could totally see some kind of deal between Columbus and Edmonton though.

RNH & 4th for 3rd & J. Johnson.

You think Pittsburgh is a small team?

They manhandled the sharks which are supposed to be a big, mobile, physical and skilled team. I was shocked that the sharks didn't put up a bigger fight.

I bet the sharks in 5. Boy was I wrong.

I meant a deal to someone else including their 2nd hahah. Also I don't see them making a trade to move down 1 spot. Seems a little pointless. I was thinking more in the 8-12 range

The Sharks didn't have a single game in that series in which they looked remotely like the team that won the previous 3 rounds. They played well for parts of game 6 but it was too little too late.
