If Pens bombed out of the playoffs, Malkin could be on the table. But after dominating the whole playoffs and not being in cap hell, it wouldnt make much sense moving him unless someone blows the Pens away.

If Florida offers Ekblad, Bjugstad and Crouse, Id listen.

Considering they won 2 cups together...I'm pretty sure Malkin and Crosby are pretty happy with the situation. Malkin should know well enough how hard it is to win the Stanley Cup period and the likelihood of going from his good situation here to trying to win somewhere else.

Now it's entirely possible he minds being overshadowed to a degree...but only he really knows that. No chance Pittsburgh is eager to move him out. So it will only be because Malkin himself is eager to leave.

Malkin is not going to be moved. The whole rumour that he wants to be "the guy" has been mentioned for years. If he really did then he would already be gone. So that's off the table.

The other side of it is the return and cap issues. If the Pens are going to have a difficult time with the cap then yes he is an option but only then and only if they are offered an insane package worth a franchise center.

For this draft the only viable option is moving him to the Blue Jackets for their 3rd overall pick, a solid top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman, and top prospect. But the only way the Jackets could do it is by also sending a cap dump.

Trade from hell, especially considering Malkin has to waive. Good luck.

Don't worry, when Florida offers up Ekblad, Bjugstad and Crouse... Pittsburgh might listen.

It would take Boone Jenner, Scott Hartnell, Zach Werenski and the #3 overall pick for the talent and $$$ to add up

And it's probably a crappy deal for both teams

Malkin to Preds for Josi, Johanssen and 2016 1st

I see your E4 and raise you an E5

Will NEVER happen so no need to listen, except a dial tone from FLA Gm...
- Ur Not Me

Exactly the point I was making. The only way Malkin gets moved at this point is if someone offers something ridiculous.

Pens smart move would be in trying to maximize a trade for Fleury rather than looking anywhere else. Lots of talk about Calgary and Dallas, but I wonder if the Pens couldnt pull something off with Buffalo.

Fleury + 2nd for Lehner + 1st might be something that could happen.

Actually considering that Werenski is involved that is a great deal. If I'm Pittsburgh I would probably demand no cap dump (have them do a separate cap dump deal elsewhere) and switch Werenski for a slightly lesser prospect and swap Hartnell for another decent NHLer (non cap dump).

Either way, not happening. Lol

Man... these off-season Malkin rumors have almost become like an annual thing. I'm pretty sure EK has an alarm set to remind him to put out a Malkin rumor.

Malkin makes $9.5M a year, has two Stanley Cup rings and the following trophies/awards: Hart, Conn Smythe, Art Ross(2), Ted Lindsay Award and the Calder Trophy.

If that's not being "the man," I don't know what is.

Malkin's not getting traded. Sorry ya'll
