Actually half of today was spent on arguing the merits of Apple TV.

Hexy always loves to explore trading up.....it's definitely in the cards. Idk who for though. Keller or Dubois are probably the only ones who excite me into giving up the required hefty assets. Love Tkachuk, but it's an expensive trade to make from 18 for someone who probably isn't a primary line driver. If it becomes unfeasible and we can get Luke Rubellows, I'd love to explore trade ups back into 1st or earlier 2nd. I have my 2nd round favorites.

- Mononoke

Also a possibility. I could even see a trade back from 18 if Luke Rubellows is gone by then.

It's not that I'm advocating trading up, just a gut feeling.

Calgary should be closer. But their last coach was a dumpster fire, their management brain trust is an old-school mess, and they will probably hire another bad coach.

I feel like Carolina gets it. They have the great front office/coaching to better utilize their talent.

- Mononoke

Carolina has a deeper prospect pool as well. Feaster did a fairly poor job at the draft table for years before the old school guys took over in Calgary.

Calgary, Toronto, Islanders, Anaheim ?
- ob18

Toronto could give the pens their pick back. That would still be an overpayment haha

Calgary makes most sense, but does he waive? I could see Carolina, TBH.
- Jsaquella

What if he refuses to waive all together? Pitt would be forced to give up Murray essentially.

Im still somewhat intrigued by a trade back/trade up scenario. Trade back from 18 to say 22, pick up a 2nd rounder. Then package a couple of 2nd rounders for say the 24th pick.

Yeah, their d #1-6 could be on par with the Flyers in a few years. I still think they are missing a real marquee guy or two (Aho could be that...he's pretty awesome), but they are bursting at the seams with draft picks, high ones too. And they barely missed the playoffs this year with horrendous goaltending.

Calgary has the better star players, up front and back, but they're just a disaster. Reminds me of the Flyers last season, except we didn't even have a #1. They have a 1a and 1b....and Hamilton. What a waste.

Also Calgary>Calorina for me. Gaudreau, Monahan, Hamilton plus whoever they draft in this class makes for a nice young core. Carolina has some solid pieces too but I like the Flames just a smidge more.

I dunno. I really am not too sure about that but I can definitely understand it. Carolina plays a very stout game and definitely have some good looking prospects.

I think Calgary has higher end pieces but is that mess really just cause of coaching? The front office point is spot on. They need to get the right coach before any goalie will fix anything

They'd be in trouble for sure. I doubt MAF would do that, though.

They have the sheer volume to be active, for sure. Might even see Hextall trade into 2017, due to the relative weakness of this class

Looking at the prospect pool, Carolina is deeper. The Flames have some really good young players on the roster, but there's not a ton behind them. Also, Carolina has almost the same level of good youngsters on the roster now.

In terms of players not in the NHL, yeah, but good young players I think Calgary has more.

Kuokkanen was mad impressive during U18s, centering PJ. You can watch his highlights on YouTube. I wonder if he could be this year's Aho -- nothing jumps out, but very smart. Bitten's highlights are just road runner skating and breakaways, but they don't do him justice. Fiesty in all 3 zones, strong fore checker, unafraid to battle, high skill. Him and Dube are quite similar actually, but Bitten has an extra gear to his skating. Maybe a bit more skill. I saw him for a couple games at U18s. He was pretty awesome. So was Kyrou. I want skill and speed like they have.

That's fair, but Carolina isn't a slouch there. Skinner and Faulk are still young. Lindholm and Hanifin are both under 22, as well.

But yeah, Gaudreau, Monahan, Hamilton, Brodie as a core 4 are better-or at least more proven-thus far in the NHL
