I didn't say they shouldn't sign anyone, but nobody wants to get handcuffed with a terrible contract on an old useless player. I'd love Backes on this team, but he's already rejected offers from St. Louis that were pretty fair. He's going to get a $6M payday for probably 5 years. He'd be a great asset but terms like that are a bit scary.

I can see going cheap with Martin's replacement, but I would not go cheap in terms of improving the top 6. If Garth wants to take a chance on doing the same things it's on him and not a good idea with new owners.

Sucks when a UFA leaves for nothing and they actually have value. Like I'm sure will be happening with Yandle. Was so pissed they didn't try to deal him at the deadline.
