Yeah I never said I wouldn't do it, it would just be a tough call. And it's true, you would be creating one hole to fill another. Doesn't mean it's impossible to remedy it, but then all the sudden you're adding $6M in Hall's salary AND adding a UFA defenseman for probably between $4M and $6M, depending on who you sign.
- eichiefs9

Theres a million and one scenarios that can happen. But, this far along in a rebuild, a team should have talent coming up the pipeline to fill voids. If you dont, then theres something wrong. If Hall is available, and you can snag him without giving up Hamonic, I dont see how you dont get er done.

But you get rid of Bailey and his abortion of a contract. That's a plus.
- Wildschwein

I can see them dumping his contract onto Carolina or Phoenix for a mid rd pick. At least that's what I hope they do

That's right you said Nelson, which means I'm out. Would probably do it with Strome but not Nelson. Kid scored 26 goals last year.
- Vukota

True. I actually thought Strome was the more highly valued player of the two.
Also Brock's shooting percentage was up 5% last year. Not sure he can maintain a 15+ shooting %.

I am somewhat understand your cost consciousness. But, the time to make a play like this is now. Its not overly risky. Some risk is ok, some risk is needed to be successful. Successful teams, or success in general comes with some risk. Im willing to take that risk, and if the owners are serious they should too. Besides, theres always a way to clear space.
- kindlyrick

Yeah I do think it's relatively low risk. We're basically in agreement on this one.

Because you like most sometimes go on what you read, rather than the actual watching. I dont mean that in a negative way, as im guilty of it too. But, Brock Nelson is a way better NHLer at this point (and i believe he will be down the road too).

I probably would too, but like I said in a few years we might be like what the fack did we just do?
- Vukota

If Nelson can play a full season and pulock really develops I mean jt compared hin to Shea weber and I don't think he's making that up or saying it to say it
Edit I'm not saying he will be Shea Weber but if that's the comparison jt makes and he's played with Weber in several international events then you have to be encouraged

“The Boston Bruins are looking for a defenseman.

“I think the Carolina Hurricanes are looking for a forward.

“The Colorado Avalanche desperately looking for a defenseman. There may be some big-game hunting there, maybe seeing if Jacob Trouba might be available in Winnipeg. Is Tyson Barrie and/or Matt Duchene, could they be in play.

“The Detroit Red Wings, I think, want to make some big moves. They want to move Datsyuk’s contract. They’d probably love to give up a guy like Jurco or Pulkkinen in order to facilitate that. But I think they want to try and clear the decks, and if Steven Stamkos becomes available, I think they might be inclined to be a player on that front.

“I think the Edmonton Oilers are really anxious to make big moves on their blueline. Could Nugent-Hopkins or Eberle or any of those higher-profile forwards there be traded for a defenseman.

Probably a couple of years ago going by their draft slots but I would be hard pressed to say Strome has the higher upside right now today. Granted he had 50 points his rookie season and was terrible last year. I would be hesitant to move either but would probably do if for Hall

I'd rather explore other options to get Grabovski off the books, first, however.

Have to wonder if a team like ARI would be interested just to have the cap hit on the books to ensure they're above the floor.

Actually I did manage to watch quite a few Isle's games last year (not just that ass raping you unleashed on the Oil). Brock was good but sometimes especially in the last half he kinda just disappeared. Still physical but the production drop was noticeable.
Strome just flat out had a poop year. Hope it was just a sophomore slump.

If they were interested it would probably be Kulimen over Grabs a little cheaper and much more healthier. Which would be fine with me. Gotta find a way to get rid of one of them

Disagree. Far from physical and that's the problem with him

I mean that would be ideal. Makes you wonder. When is Garth going to ever sign a UFA thats an actual asset?

I think when you're dealing with young players, their bodies are still adjusting to the physicality of the league. Not to mention, the isles (other than the "4th line") are a constant revolving door or lines. I wish they could just get a more consistent lineup so guys can actually gel and get things going.

If we find a way to get two of 12, 86, 84 off the books this year I'll be thrilled.

CAR looking for forwards, I'd be curious to see if they took a flyer on Bailey for dirt cheap.

Of course but I think the reality is if they can get rid of one they would be happy

OK just out of curiosity how physical were the pens? How many enforcers did they have? The isles need more talent and Nelson to play with speed and skill and have a full season like his first half. Strome should bounce back this year and help with secondary scoring. Martin isn't coming back nor is okposo I think Neilson fits this team with speed skill Pk and 2nd unit pp. They need a top winger and some depth. I'd leave the d as is and as enticing as hall is I really don't want to lose pulock as I think he's going to transform the pp into a top unit because it will be dynamic if cappy puts him on it

Suck my Richard.

I hope they go the 8 skaters 1 goalie route. I don't think Nurse needs protection but I could be wrong. Klefbom and Sekera will need to be though.

Ummmm what are you talking about?

1. I never mentioned anything about enforcers
2. I never mentioned Strome as secondary scoring
3. I never mentioned Martin
4. I never mentioned Pulock

Was this for someone else?
