Jones and Talbot are both on show me you're #1 goalies. Talbot hasn't shown he's worth more than that now but Jones is going to get a big raise after next season where I'm sure they'll extend him at much more than the $3m he makes now
- allsports

I can see the Jones contract as a show me one, but Talbot's is a bit richer. There is some commitment there and especially in the case of Talbot, if he stumbles or the Oilers have some doubts, I could see them spending similar money on a backup and be in a tough spot.

Yeah I don't get that? Drouin, 1st and 2 2nds????? for 5OA?

Who comes up with that? TBY wouldn't trade Drouin for the 5OA straight up.

Even EA sports video game would reject that trade.

EA sports video game rejects 5 first round picks for Drouin, on easy trade setting

At least it can be a legitimate topic on the radio instead of made up cr4p.
- hillbillydeluxe

But Pratt said our 5th for Montreals Gallager and their 9th and 39th overall. Thats legit.

Millers to old to get another contract, honestly depending how much he wants id be all for trading miller now if we can and signing Reimer to a 3 year term
- phyllee

Reimer just needs another go elsewhere much like Dubnik did. I would entertain the idea of him and Markstrom fighting for a shot to be the #1. Competition makes for good hockey.

On the other had he did come from TO originally so that cancels us out.

Why would you ever trade either one? There's no guarantee that Demko will be as good as hoped (see Markstrom in Florida), it's likely yes, but not a guarantee. You need Markstrom to at least be a bridge for 3-4 years until Demko's ready because otherwise there's no one else and wasting assets to trade for a goalie or sign one in UFA is a dumb idea.

Miller, on the other hand should be driven to the airport and sent packing to Las Vegas.

- DariusKnight

It is going to be interesting to see how it unfolds. If Markstrom knows he is the #1 choice until Demko is ready, does he demand Talbot money? Jones money? Term? How many years until Demko is ready?

Worst case scenario is Markstrom struggles and Demko takes longer to develop.

Draft and develop for sure, but when you believe the backup is ready to be a #1, you have to decide who the #1 is or it gets messy.

Markstrom's performance this year will determine if Miller is back next year. I hope Markstrom plays well, and earns the #1 spot so we can save a little and sign a cheaper backup for Markstrom the following year. some savings if Markstrom signs for less than 4 per and backup is 1.5 or less.

Sitting in the gm's chair, map it out as much as we want and then the player demands some crazy $ or another team swoops in and signs the player when free agency begins.

If JB doesn't take that deal, further proof he sucks as a gm...

We need Benning to trade our 2 7th rounders for a 6th rounder so we have something to talk about.

It's Guddy. I have a feeling Trader Jim isn't done. I'm expecting another big move before or at the draft.

Big if true.

I got a cask fest to get to.

Personally I just take Dubois. That said Juulsen had a drastic drop in production for Everett this past season. Abbotsford kid might get a look though. Good first pass and patience in his own end. He can score too. So basically a 26th overall and a 9th overall and a 3rd next season for our 5th.

I don't see Montreal doing it. He is their best prospect right now and from what I am reading he is one of Bergevins golden boys.

Noah Juulsen who along with Boston's picks are some of the worst draft picks of the first round last year.

No thanks,

I wouldn't really call that a laugh. Also, Juulsen is not nearly as bad as the poster above me seems to think.

Do you know what is a much bigger laugh? Proposing a trade for Duchene involving Tyramkin as the center-piece of the deal.

This is somewhat of a tuesday post, but semi serious.

NRY are looking to offload some plays. Would we be willing to do

5OA+Sbisa+Higgins for Kreider+Stepan+NYR 2017 1st. This would hurt us in an expansion draft but would give us a top 6 of

Sedin-Sedin-Sutter
Kreider-Stepan-Hansen(could even trade him with burrows for something and sign a UFA)

That looks like a good top 6 and gives us another pick next year. we lose this years, but Stepan could step into the 1C roll afetr hank leaves until we draft/develop the 1C we need. This would also likely get us into the playoffs next year and could have a chance to make round 2(depending on who we play)

How would you know Juulsen's numbers went way down, he wasn't rated that Hugh in the 1st round last draft so his pedigree isn't as good as when he was picked. No thanks we don't need another bottom 6 dman so this trade so becomes redundant so yes its a non starter.

Tryamkin has already showed promise in his short time here. The Avs want a dman to take a position when they trade Barrie this summer. So depending on the packages being bandied about its not laughable. Maybe you don't see it that way but a package is simply that it's not the only piece.

I don't mind it but with the expansion draft next year we're likely to lose either of those guys so the price paid would be too high.

With the Vegas expansion the more the value of those top draft picks for the potential they bring while being protected for the expansion draft. Hope Benning sees it the same way.

Sedin, Sedin, BoHo, kreider, Stepan, Baerschi, Sutter/hansen
Guddy, tanev, Edler(Hutton/Tryamkin don't need protection)
Marky

That is who you protect(I think it was 7-3-1) and in that order. Virtanen also does not need protection.

I just saw this in the CA comments section,

It s being reported that Montreal has just traded defenseman Alexi Emelin and prospect Mike McCarron plus their first rounder (#9) to Vancouver for the Canucks pick (#5).
