I was pretty pumped about the Matt Duchene discussion in yesterday's blog. Not saying that a fifth pick would yield Duchene and a second but I do think Colorado could move him. I learned from talking to him at the World Championship just how sharp he is—he'd be on my wish list.

It's the "move down" and get a top 6 pick that made me think differently. I really have no wish list for other players in the league anymore, Van needs to get and find their next players that a fan base can grow around. Not home grown player but players they draft develop.

Markstrom had a few bad initial outings early on but has looked solid since. I wonder how much involvement Linden has with the young players (if any) because he seems to have a real calming influenece.

Rofl, That is horrible. Read my previous post about the last time a top 5 was moved. and it was only 2 spots not 4. #9, Gallagher, #39 would be the deal, unless MTL swaps Gallagher for more picks(2 more 2nds and a 3rd) one of the 2nds could be a 2017 if it makes them feel better. Even then, Dubois has more value to us than Brown or Sergachev.

I wouldn't trade the 5 th for the 9 th and 39 th or even another second rounder seeing they have two. If they weren't offering Gallagher in the package I would be walking up to the stage and drafting my future top center.

Most people would be happy to take bpa at 5, unless it's a package of the kind JB mentioned. Top six player now, 9 overall and a 2nd rounder. No one is saying that package is going to be there. So it may all be moot.

Totally agree. If Montreal wants a big French first line center, then they will have to over-pay. Gallagher or Galchenyuk plus a 2nd and the 9th for the 5th, Borrows, and one of the d prospects (Brisbois, Neil, Tate, Subban).

TO and WPG aren't trading so 3,4,5 are the top tradable teams. Someone missing key parts are targeting these teams. If Habs are trading and want Dubois , they know CBJ want Tkachuck. Edmonton want Subban we will take Gallagher, what trade do you make?

IMO the habs aren't in a situation where they have to do anything ...they get price back ...galchenyuk was looking like a 1C with patches by the end of the year ...I say go into the season hoping he continues ...as for subban depending on the trade I might do it
