to me, #9 and the 2 2nd's is a reasonable overpayment.

anything more than that, and hurts the canadiens more than it helps imo.

9 and the two 2nds would also be a good deal I think.

Goes against his retool plan though.

But it is not interesting to us. We would rather keep the #5 if that is the case. If MTL wants Dubois(when will another one come around?) they would need to over pay. #9 + 2 2nds is not an overpayment. It may ven be under payment. Last time a t5 pick was traded it was 5 going down to 7. the 7 added a 2nd and 3rd. one could easily say 2 more spots would be another 2nd and 3rd, so #9 + 2 2nds + 2 3rds as a minimum. Gallagher is easily worth a 2nd and 2 3rds, and we are talking about a starting point with the picks.

Two seconds who may or may not ever amount to anything, aren't worth very much at all when compared to a sure fire NHL player with skill in the top five overall.

yes he looks really really good. He just hope he can translate that to nhl....some cant. I believe he will.
- SMBDragon

Its a big step for Goalies. Toughest position in the game to play. It's the most physically demanding and mentally demanding job in the game. I have seem so many goalies with all the physical tools to be great in the NHL and fall short because they are the mentally unprepared.

- thundachunk

which was my point when I said some cant ....but the kid reminds me of schneider, real calm cool and collected. Think he'll be great.

Markstrom had a few bad initial outings early on but has looked solid since. I wonder how much involvement Linden has with the young players (if any) because he seems to have a real calming influenece.

I dont usually get involved with too much trade talk but Id have to agree with you here....would have to be something along #5 for #9+gallagher+another pick like 2nd or 3rd

Top 5 picks are at a premium. Usually a good player is added as well as an additional pick. Thats the norm

Don't shoot the messenger.

On the 1040 Pratt said this is the hot rumor of what is being offered.

To MTL 5OA

To VAN. 9 th OA 39 th OA and Brendan Gallagher.

That is a top 6 ready now player. Sergachev at 9 , D fixed, and a second round pick like a Tyler Benson comparable. It also makes Rodin or Sven tradable which would probably be a third round pick.

It is something to think about if that type of offer is there.

Gallagher BC boy with four years left at 3.25 per.

- VANTEL

Haha what a troll. Not a chance Montreal is doing that. Bergevin would have to have a real hate on for Gallagher and extremely high expectations from the potential pick.

Scenarios galore.

So two picks worth "not much"and 9OA for the 5OA...? How did that make any sense

Moving up will cost.
So stay at 5.

Would you do it for the 5th, Hansen, the Torteralla gift whilst taking on one of their crappier contracts (ie Tyutin, Savard, Tyutin)?

#9, Gallagher, and any picks is more than enough to move up to #5 ...realistically it would be say #9, a 2nd, and a 4th or 5th for the #5...even that might be much

Puljujarvi has certainly lost a bit of his shine but I don't get the Raymond comparison at all.

He is a very complete player and most scouts agreed was the more NHL ready player prior to Laine going off in the final month. I think Laine has really showed his potential is lights out but Puljujarvi is still a very special player and IMO will have a bigger impact next season.

I personally think CLB is just trying to see if they can get someone to overpay for him.

A truly bizarre comparison...Pulj is a stud

I wouldn't want Gallagher on the team for the same reasons i wouldn't want Lucic on the team
- NorthNuck

But yet both are consistent 20+ goal guys. Sure Gallagher is another Burrows type and Lucic is a goof but really they fill needs we have.

It was mentioned last night do you see Hansen waiving his NTC to play for Torts

Rofl, That is horrible. Read my previous post about the last time a top 5 was moved. and it was only 2 spots not 4. #9, Gallagher, #39 would be the deal, unless MTL swaps Gallagher for more picks(2 more 2nds and a 3rd) one of the 2nds could be a 2017 if it makes them feel better. Even then, Dubois has more value to us than Brown or Sergachev.

No, but he could waive somewhere that has an asset CBJ want that we could acquire. Personally I don't want to move up as we don't have the assets. and to move down requires an over payment like #9, Gallagher, #39

That's what you might want the Nux to accept, but not happening unless JB gets a legit top six player right now.

Montreal will replace Gallagher with Yak and Eberle from the Subban trade.

I wouldn't trade the 5 th for the 9 th and 39 th or even another second rounder seeing they have two. If they weren't offering Gallagher in the package I would be walking up to the stage and drafting my future top center.

The Canucks are having their first draft party, this is JB's 3rd draft, he has something up his sleeve.

Exactly, and when was the last time a French Canadian had 1c potential? The youngest I think is Bergeron. That was 13 years ago.

Totally agree. If Montreal wants a big French first line center, then they will have to over-pay. Gallagher or Galchenyuk plus a 2nd and the 9th for the 5th, Borrows, and one of the d prospects (Brisbois, Neil, Tate, Subban).
