This is where we disagree . When you lead off with the Question how long was Benning with the Bruins because their drafting record is not spectacular , myself and I am sure a few others take it as a dig towards Benning. You are more than welcome to defend your statement that it was not an attack on JB.

McCann was traded for a very good player so it does not remove any of the shine off that Benning drafted 4 NHL players in his first draft

I'd hold off on saying they're NHL players until they've played 200 NHL games. Tryamkin has barely played 10, McCann was in and out of the lineup and probably should have been sent to the AHL if he wasn't too young to do so and too good for junior. Virtanen I'll give you and Demko has yet to play an NHL even though he's likely going to be the starter in 4 years.

I wasn't stating that he was bad at drafting. Just seems a bit odd. Now's he's traded McCann.

That's exactly what you were stating.

I guess my first question should have lead into my second question of how much say he had in drafting and trading.

To me it just seemed a bit strange considering Van has had so many draft picks in the past couple years now making the transition onto the Van roster when so few Boston Bruins players did and that pretty much all of the drafted first round players are now playing on different teams. I wonder if him and peter had a different opinion on who should be drafted. JB is very high on the character of players. Seguin traded because of problems and then you hear McCann wasn't a favorite of other guys in the locker room.

Who was the one to come up with the idea of hiring Tallon and have him work alongside JB?

The more I think about it, the more I like that idea.

Boston did a good job of adding youth slowly, to keep the line-up relevant. Gillis did not know how do do this. We added so much youth so fast because the alternative was a bunch of 30 year olds on the roster(both current and through UFA). Benning thought that by bringing them up now it would develope them better than junior. Who cares if it worked for McCann because he is a Panther now. BUt i saw JV improve in the last half of the season. I think JV needs to play in Utica's top line to start the season, but JB may want to keep him up for the "youth movement"

Dave Pratt said it 2 months back. He was the first to suggest Tallon was going to be removed and the first to suggest it

Didn't Tallon just get promoted?

And a 3 year contract?

Removing JV from the line up also means removing the only physical forward we have not on the 4th line.

My buddy Ken went sky diving and pulled the back up chute first and it got tangled in the main chute. He did one of those things where you spin all the way to the ground. Broke a few bones but lived. I asked him if he would ever get back on the horse. He said F@ck no. I'm not an idiot.

Things I have never had a desire to do:

Have someone kick me in the nuts to see if it hurt

Have sex with a 90 year old

See if I live jumping out of a plane with a little package on my back

I don't see the point of jumping out a perfectly good plane.

Well IF Van is getting Eriksson, then I'm not sure who you get without pressing up against the cap. Pretty much lost all forward youth that was in the line up last season.

I thin Higgins will retire. He is not over 35 so his salary won't count against us(i think that is how it works) and we could trade burrows if we retained some cap hit. That gives us the money for a Lucic, or Brouwer, or Martin.
