In the grand scheme of comedy Phil Hartman almost gets forgotten. Guy was a classic character on SNL for years, he wrote a ton of sketches too. Did voices on the Simpsons (Troy McClure), cameod in every funny thing in the early-mid 90s. That beeatch that killed him better be rotting in hell. - B2B76
Lionel Hutz was a great character on the Simpsons too.
Plenty of credit given but how can anyone predict a dynasty on a team with injury prone athletes now mandated to block shots every shift? - MidnightMarauder
i dont like the notion of dynasty predicting in general in the NHL. its too variant on too many things anymore.
the hawks were the closest, and for all of their skill and stud players, i still believe they benefited so much from a perfect storm of salary events. i give their GM full marks for having the ability to move on from second tier guys at the right time, and find role players on the fly. not easy to do on more than one occasion to create a cup recipe.
but having hossa and keith locked up to their mega deals before those such things became banned sure (frank)ing helped.

Everyone assumed a dynasty after 09. Hey its hard to win 1 Stanley Cup, let alone multiple. Much respect to Pittsburgh for going the distance.

Penguins, if they stay healthy, will be a force next season. But I just don't see the team staying healthy considering some of their key guys with histories of injuries and their new found gritty style of play.
Make no mistake, not discrediting Pittsburgh at all, they deserved this title. I just have a hard time seeing everything fall into place like they did this season.

No doubt. That's why as fun as it was 2 years ago to get there & be in that spotlight I knew we had to try & take advantage & win that Cup cause you just don't know what will happen the next season...or seasons now for us.

I'll be honest, I need to see this team win again before I am too old to care.
They still have time but that clock seems to speed up every year they don't get it done.

I was saying to Jimmy how tomorrow is already the 22nd Anny of the 94 Cup. I will NEVER ever get sick of those memories or reminiscing about them but it's time to get some new magic moments. As nice as 2 years ago was, we didn't seal the deal so it's just not the same when thinking back on 2014.
Fleury will be traded. Malkin would bring quite a haul, mix of prospects/picks/nhl players. If they do it right they might be able to win another. I don't trust the defense they have and they sold out protecting Murray. Kid looks like the real deal but we'll see next season. Letangs dirty play is 1 hit away from his career being over with another concussion.

I will not be around the next few days because of some personnel biz but here's to June 14, 1994. Still get chills watching this, especially Neil Smith's Thank You to the fans...

no disrespect taken. its the nature of the beast. i do think the pens are in good shape to be a good team with a legitimate shot at the cup next year. but if you told me to place a bet on the pens repeating or the field, i think its foolish to not choose the field. i think its foolish to choose any one team over the field.
health was a big issue. i think crosby is largely a very durable player, all things aside with that one massive snafu. malkin is a major injury red flag over the course of the season. same with letang. i'm fine if they each only play about 65 games in the regular season if theyre good to go for the postseason (although i know thats not exactly how you get to pick and choose haha)
but i agree with your overall sentiment. its virtually impossible to repeat. thats why no one does it. but man, this one was (frank)ing sweet to savor. and they'll be in the mix next year. really about as much as you can ask for.
back to the rangers, i love the fact that there are rumors about moving stepan, means they are serious in changing things, even though i hate to see him go, but may be an indication that they are in for stamkos

So, we are heading to Ohio next weekend and I searched through some old threads to find a conversation about Ohio breweries with our old pal (now defunct) Pens_Burgh. Poor bastard probably had a heart attack the way he ate.
Anyway, came across this frequently recurring gem...

Good, I'll save this to note that all pissy and miserable trolling for the entire series was started by the Rags, and is your fault.

There is no way Pens would trade him to a division rival. I don't think it is something we have to worry about - TPC
Especially with Sullivan behind the bench. No way he wants to match lines with Shrek in NY.
I read some speculation about Malkin coming to NY and wanted to say that I am against it.
