Agreed. The Leafs need someone who is good enough to form a 1-2 punch with Rielly (assuming Rielly continues to progress). Whether Rielly is the 1 or the 2 in that combo I don't know yet, but regardless we definitely need another high level D.
Not sure if they can move up as that seems easier said than done, but they seem to be one of the teams in a position to make some transactions. - Zezel
Having allot of good young prospects, already making a mark for themselves, is a good start. Add some of the later picks, late in the first, or in the second, could get it done. Wasn't Kapanen a mid level first rounder for Pittsburgh? He also had the golden goal at the World Juniors and we should sell high on this guy. I see him as a possible 20 goal scorer, but he's a perimeter player and doesn't crash the net. I'd rather keep Brown over Kapanen.

It's also great that by having a strong prospect group for a change, guys have to compete with each other and get better. Even the blue chip prospects have serious competition for ice time and roles now.

The Marlies routinely sat 20goal scorers durning the playoffs. |

You're giving up to get.. Larsson is good but saying he's a good 1D is the same as saying Kadri is a good 1C.. |

He'd be the perfect pairing with Reilly....
Reilly/Larsson
Gardiner/Zaitsev

Until we realize he's not..
He scored 3 goals last year.. Gotta be more offensive if you're going to get Rielly minutes. |

He plays in a more defensive first system....also, he'd be the perfect partner with his sound defensive ability....would allow Rielly to get more creative, while being backed up by a pretty good two way defenseman....only going to get better with age. |

I don't think nows the time to experiment with that. We have Kadri on a good deal and he showed he's capable last year. Kadri as a 3C is going to make this team very deep down the middle. I want to see what Zaits is all about first. |

Well if we roll with Zaitsev as our top pairing....I'd like to see the Leafs sign Schultz and Schenn
Rielly/Zaitsev
Gardiner/Schultz
Percy/Schenn
Yeah, already know I'm going to hear they both suck....welp, looks like Schultz benefited from a change of scenery, the problem was the Oilers....and Schenn didn't look too bad on the Kings. He really is not as bad as people would like to make him out to be, maybe not a 5th overall, but still a serviceable defensive defenseman that can hit. I wouldn't mind seeing him back in blue and white, of course at a reasonable contract. |

I don't see Percy penciled into the lineup.. Carrick/Marincin/Corrado are better.
Schenn might work on certain team but I think Toronto should stick to building a fast young D. |

Trying to stick to the LHD on the left side...not too crazy about Marincin, so I selected Percy.
How about Schultz? |
