Huh. Make the 4th that much more valuable if Jesse Puljujärvi is still on the board.
- Wildschwein

I dont want to see the Canucks move into the 3rd spot to draf the Finn in front of you guys.

Lumbus trade down to 4th to take a C....Oilers ship off the 3rd to the Avs for Barrie. Avs draft Puljjajajajajajavri. Everyone wins

How much money would it take to resign him? I feel like 6mill is where his value hinges between sweet spot and overpayment; 6mill per for 5 years?

However, you know him better than I do, so what's your take on that?

I think 6m is the fair value that he would settle at, probably starts at 6.5m and settles at 6m.

Honestly I dont think the contract talk story line is as bad as the media is making it out, just the Avs had trouble with Newsport with ROR and thats the same agents with Barrie so they just assume it wiill be a cluster (frank) again.

he has 3 years of RFA left, Avs have all the control here, he needs to play so holding out wont help him, I think they go to arb and settle on a 2 year deal before its all said and done if he doesnt like the numbers hes getting

Jonathan Dahlén a really interesting player that'll be around the 2nd/3rd round. Will probably be overlooked because he wasn't in any high profile tournaments this year.

Hes 1 year or 38 games out from being waiver eligable, so they better know what the heck they have with him soon.
- DDM-Coga

That's what I mean. They should make the most of AHL development while he isn't waiver eligible before they bring him up in a bottom pairing role (which is what I think they have in him).

just trade the 4th for Barrie already and lets stop this foreplay
- DDM-Coga

I'd be fine with that.

Spurgeon is better than Dumba and I wouldn't do the 4th straight up for him.
- Wildschwein

Currently Spurgeon is better but I think Dumba has the higher ceiling and with so many cost-controlled RFA years remaining I think Dumba might have fairly similar value.

Unless CBJ is okay with Brown or some other C they better not put all their hopes into picking Dubois at 5 because he might not be there. No guarantee Tkachuk goes #4.

CBJ would be safer either taking who they want at 3 regardless or trading down with the Oil but I don't think moving 1 spot is going to bring in much when they are the ones asking for the trade.

Nothing wrong with acquiring a guy like Marchenko. He wouldn't cost too much si I don't get all the butthurt over talking about him. Fact is, he'd be a guy we likely wouldn't need to protect through the expansion draft and who might yet be able to play at a top 4 level after that point.

That being said, stop bringing it up every thread.

Costing too much is the whole point. The Oil should not be using or devaluing their best expendable trade piece to get a "might yet be able to play at a top 4 level" in a few years. They should not be trading the 4th OA for a package of lesser assets. If anything they should be adding to the 4OA if necessary to get something that is a sure-fire asset now.

That's fine but some of the complaints were levied against the mere idea of acquiring him or a player in his situation as if the team doesn't still have a huge need for depth on D.

Yeah if they are minor assets that won't impact the chance of landing a big ticket D man then I'm all for it.
