I think this is a very good guess as to what will happen based on what we currently know as fans who read all things Leafian.

However I am virtually certain Uncle Lou will trade some of our perceived forward depth for help on defense and in goal.

This is a guy had success with Marty Brodeur and traded his first rounder (9th overall) for Schneider.

Leaf fans will not be happy with what we have to give up when the trade is announced but I betcha New Jersey fans would gladly to that deal over in a heartbeat.

In Lou we trust.

You may be right but it depends on what Lou and his staff are thinking. With expansion coming there will be some teams who will have to trade off a goalie in fear of losing one for nothing. It will be a buyers market when it starts.

Do we pay more now for someone or wait till the price drops? If we get a good goalie now we still are not a playoff team so all it will do is have us draft 10th next year instead of top 5. Is that what Lou wants?

The rebuild is not over in my opinion. Being around the bottam and a lottery team next year is ok with me, is it ok with management?

This is where I, and possibly Leafs brass, disagree

Leafs lost 15 1 goal games in regulation last year. Not to mention OT losses and Empty netter 2-goal losses.

That was with JVR hurt and Bernier and Sparks playin like sieves.

The roster will be vastly improved this season even without a goalie. Add a legit starter to that mix and I think they\, in fact, are a playoff team.

People have to stop talking about this like it's a given that they will be bottom 5 next year. Far from it

Hunwick is a depth dman, nothing more.

At $1.2M, not much to complain about.

He served his purpose as a stop-gap.

My guess is he will be traded anytime now.
