If PA didn't get hurt at the deadline; he was getting dealt to the blues for a conditional 3rd round pick.

If the leafs can get him for 1.5 million he will be back, but look for Detroit to snag him if they don't sign radulov. They offered him yesterday a 7.5 million 2 year term.

- Kinggilmour

I forgot PAP was injured at the deadline. I did read somewhere that the Leafs were in contract talks with him this week though.

I can't imagine any team offering Radulov 7.5M per for 2 years, let alone Detroit who are still on the hook for Datsyuk's contract if he leaves for the KHL.

Personally, I'll just wait for Spatso to tell us what numerous scouts and analysts are saying about the goalie prospects this year. It should happen soon since so many have already determined that Laine is better than Matthews so no need to waste any more time on that. It's not even a debate anymore really.

So, $3.75/year?

That is correct.

more of a shut down guy, not sure if theres a place for him in the NHL.

- poohcrumbs

There is a place for shutdown D men, but not sure what his ceiling is. Maybe not in the plans, just was wondering about him.

It was 7.5 for 2 seasons.

I'm thinking he goes in the third round, there are some decent looking goalie prospects, just none that look to be a sure thing (first round picks).
- Lucas.Neilson

I think Hart goes late first or early second round. We will have to use pick 30 or 31 to take him if not we lose him.

Marner won't be there this season, if he is its below the 9 game mark. Why burn a year of eligibility to play him on the 3rd line. Connor Brown is a player, a real player; he will grow into a Leafs captain one day. Kid has done it all; he plays with vision, heart and very high Hockey IQ. If he finds a bit of a mean streak; we may be looking at a young version of Dougie G. Go back and look at Dougies path from juniors to the NHL....he was main,y used in a shut down role in St.louis and even in Calgary. He really didn't blow up offensively until he came to Toronto in a lead role. Always considered "too small" throughout his career.....once he found that means streak he became "killer" on the ice.

I know I will get crucified..but whatever.

- Kinggilmour

Why is the narrative Marner vs Brown?

It's Brown v. Hyman v. Soshnikov in a triple threat match

I still say Brown wins

Gilmour had several seasons of 80-100 points before coming to Toronto. I mean, we traded former 50 goal scorer Gary Leeman for him!

What’s the point in sending marner back to the ohl? He has nothing left to prove. He’s won it all.

Burning a year off his elc isn’t a big deal… can actually end-up working out better.

- Tumbleweed

Gilmour had several 80-100 point seasons in an era of wide open scoring. 80 points in the 80s wasn't that big of an accomplishment. Enter the 90s of clutch and grab, right wing lock....neutral zone traps...,and he put up over 100 points....with maturity and a ton of heart.

Marner will go back to junior and win another memorial cup.

Reports are that he wants 7.5M per season for 2 years. Why would he leave the KHL when he's making over 9M per year out there? Makes no sense to come this way for 3.75M a year.

The prototypical shutdown dman is becoming extinct. If he can skate well enough and play the game then he maybe able to make it. You don't have to be an all offense guy that doesn't play d or a shutdown d with no puck skills anymore. The league is moving into a more skilled skating league.

I like all 3 of those guys. So does Babcock.

That said, I think only one of them makes it.

He's burnt a lot of bridges in the KHL. The KHL is also struggling financially and are talking about losing a couple to a few teams.

Prime players get paid; radulov isn't a prime player anymore its that simple. He doesn't listen, he plays when he wants to play....not a lot of coaches and teams want to deal with that.

He will most likely sign the 2 year 7.5 deal.

I think this is a very good guess as to what will happen based on what we currently know as fans who read all things Leafian.

However I am virtually certain Uncle Lou will trade some of our perceived forward depth for help on defense and in goal.

This is a guy had success with Marty Brodeur and traded his first rounder (9th overall) for Schneider.

Leaf fans will not be happy with what we have to give up when the trade is announced but I betcha New Jersey fans would gladly to that deal over in a heartbeat.

In Lou we trust.

love to see demers and Polak in Toronto. But both will get over 4 million per season. Leafs and red wings have talked about Brendan smith coming over for over a season now....not sure how that would work....but he may be worth a flyer if it doesn't cost much.

Hunwick over Marincin all day errday
- TheMussel
No way, Marincin is a much better defender. The guy just kills plays in the D zone. Hunwick brought Reilly's underlying numbers down all year. Not a bad player but Marincin has a much higher ceiling
