I'm thinking he goes in the third round, there are some decent looking goalie prospects, just none that look to be a sure thing (first round picks).

a little early but that looks like its going to be next years draft.

Was having this debate with another poster awhile back and I just don't see any way that Brown is going to make the opening night roster, deserving or not.

Despite what Lou says, they are not putting 7 rookies on the opening night roster.

Matthews, Nylander, Zaitsev and I'd go as far as to say Marner are all locks for the opening night roster. I do not see Brown sliding in ahead of Soshnikov or Hyman based on the how those two played last year and Bab's love affair for those guys.

Brown played better when up with the leafs and better with the Marlies. I don't get this......

Hart and Gustafson are top rated goalies, they are picked before the 3rd easy.

Also, Babs has the same affection for Brown.

Take Babcock's recent statements concerning Brown, Zach Hyman, William Nylander and Nikita Soshnikov:

"Willy could have easily been on the team from training camp, so could have Brownie [Connor Brown]. They could have been on the team right from the get-go and we chose not to do that for a number of reasons.

Brown over Marner, imo.
- systemtool

Brown will be an afterthought where Marner is concerned.

If they think Marner will get more of a benefit on the Leafs than back in junior then that's where he'll be. They won't care if Brown is deserving or not.

some scouts have said they wouldn't touch a goalie in this draft till the 4th or 5th rounds. Most reports have this as a very weak draft for Goalies.

I dont agree. I think Brown has done his time and is ready without a doubt. They'll be more cautious where Marner is concerned. My point is that Brown is more of a lock than Marner at this stage of the teams development.

I'm just saying the development of Marner is much more important that Brown. They will look after his well-being over Browns.

I'd bet that Marner gets at least 9 games with the Leafs next year.

Holland is gone. Just trade him for whatever you can get.

Liach, Greening, and Michalek are gone by the trade deadline so that frees up spots for the kids.

Hyman, Sosh, Kapanen, Nylander, Matthews, Marner, Nylander should all be on the Leafs after the deadline, if they don't make it out of camp.

Another top 5 pick wouldn't be bad before they start winning more games.

I don't buy that for a second. I haven't seen anything close to that. Team scouts aren't being quoted and the scouts for central scouting have them as late 1st/early 2nd rounders.

Maybe in terms of having a complete game..

But its more important to have Marner with the big club because you can always send Brown back to the Marlies

The casualties of the roster situation will be Hyman and/or Soshnikov. Not Marner or Brown

People take Babcock's admonitions of those two from last season like gospel. Meanwhile he also said that Brown should have made the team out of camp and the kid had a pretty good run while he was there. Close to PPG, if I'm not mistaken.

He makes it over Sosh or Hyman, and why the heck wouldn't he?

Personally, I'll just wait for Spatso to tell us what numerous scouts and analysts are saying about the goalie prospects this year. It should happen soon since so many have already determined that Laine is better than Matthews so no need to waste any more time on that. It's not even a debate anymore really.

The Leafs should have an Ultimate Fighter style reality show for the rookies...

Make them all live in the same house and record their every move..

catch all the drama unfolding and kick one guy off every episode..
