So they can actually draft players w/ expiring contracts? That's interesting.
Expect to see a few trades where Vegas gets players/prospects/picks to not draft certain players off teams. - Tomahawk
League might have an issue with something like that. |

see and some people discount EK. and while i understand he might not be the most stereotypically strong guy in his own zone (although i do think his defensive shortcomings are overblown), he is so good at what he does that his ability to control the puck in a way constitutes the same thing. he is such a stud.
i realize i open myself up to some hypocracy here when i say that burns doesnt make my list though, despite being an incredible asset. |

I tried to go with guys I think are #1 types. Not that Hamonic and Stralman and Shattnerkirk aren't great. Lindholm should be on my HMs...love his game. Like a bigger Kimmo/Suter almost. Don't hang your hat on Brodie either...one of the most underrated #1s. It's amazing that Calgary has two 1s and blows. Did Giordano have a bad year? 21 goals, career high points, best possession d man on team.

Burns can be way sloppier than EK who gets ripped, but he hits more people sooooo. He is one of those guys I could take off for an HM, but he was just too dominant this year. Rethinking it, he'd probably be a spot or two down on my list. |

brodie is very good as well.
with him, giordano, and even hamilton who still has promise.
up front with monahan, gaudreau, and bennett. they could have a team if they play their cards right.
all they need is fleury back there and theyre set haha |

They've let it go in past expansions. Not sure they still will but it's already happened many times. |

More competent management and coaching would be a hell of a start. Get some better depth guys and there's no reason they can be a contender in a couple years. What a pissing away of quality players. Just like the Avs. |

exactly. dont get me wrong, he is an offensive force. and he excels at that role. but he coughs up so many pucks, has pretty bad positioning/awareness. but exactly like you said. he will occasionally deliver a big hit, so he naturally must be better in his own zone than EK...
i can get behind the offensive defenseman idea. in fact, with the way its going, its more important than ever. but with burns, despite how incredible he is at shooting it and getting it through, unless he's doing that, he doesnt scare me.
EK can dominate entire stretches without ever so much as taking a shot. |

yeah. weve discussed this before. however you feel about fancy stats or whatever, i dont know. if you think its a good idea to give deryk england 3 mil a year, you are just struggling with the thought process.
Avs are a good example of this too. |

yeah i mean i just threw my favorites out there for the most part. I couldve included Brodie too...its hard to cut it off sometimes. I just threw it together so I wont say he couldnt be above the names I mentioned. I think Giordano was having a better season last year before the injury which is why I said that
Hamonic I just like..I think hes one of the most ideal defensive defensemen in the NHL. Stralman I still think is really good but thats a bit of a personal thing (i was so into the flyers signing him before tampa stole him)...shattenkirk is a 1 man breakout |
