Klentaks emphasis on arms make me think they are going that way. It could be a Houston like scenario where they pick someone lower first overall and get a better player who is overslotted

No I get that. It's smart. But I just do not like what I read about Puk...good stuff, spotty command is a story I've read a hundred times before. It's not like he is even great at the NCAA level. Good not great ERA. Tons of walks. He is the third best starter on his own college team....that doesn't scream out to me as a great pick.

im with you fam...i want moniak

so my fantasy baseball league is intense...its fantastic...we actually have our own farm systems with a farm draft that starts tomorrow night. it is completely ridiculous to draft fantasty baseball players out of high school but it has brought so many more names to my attention that adds to the experience

Looking at the college stats of someone like Nola who went 7th....blows his away. By a mile. During his draft year and before. Here's their respective age 21 draft years:

Nola: 11-1 W-L.....1.47 ERA.... 0.83 WHIP

Puk: 2-3 W-L.....3.21 ERA....1.16 WHIP

Except for a higher K rate, that's just so bleh. Bad part is there seems to be no growth year to year stats wise. Hell, Nola's freshman and sophomore years were better than Puk's this year. Bleh. That's who we would take #1 overall? This doesn't strike me as the pick of a cutting edge, young GM....

I have tried to project baseball players like that and its almost impossible...there are a lot of other things that teams look at

I know baseball is harder to project. But things like command do project. A kid who has not shown much growth through 3 years in college, and is the third best starter on his college team just seems sketchy. He has an awkward delivery too. It seems more like they are just looking at 6'7" lefty who throws hard and can strikeout people.

Yet Kolek got picked before Rodon

I get what youre saying, but MLB makes the least amount of sense compared to the other big 4 drafts

hed immediately be one of the best bats on the team if they just shoved him on a beach chair out in right field.
