Sounds like Joe Thornton to me. I like him, probably not at 8 though.

Don't get me wrong he might be a nice player but we have enough pass first guys. We need shoot first and often. Accurate would be nice to (Kane)...

- There's a rumour floating out there that a few teams are preparing offer sheets for Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons. Teams can begin talking to RFAs on June 28th, and can formally submit offer sheets on July 1st.

Keep an eye on the Minnesota Wild at this year's draft. They're looking for a big shakeup and could be major players on the draft floor this year. Names such as Jonas Brodin, Thomas Vanek and Mikael Granlund are all rumored to be in play.

I'd take Vanek at half his remaining salary if it meant we got Brodin back in the deal

He has a NMC.

He's set to make 7.5 mil

He just had the worst statistical season of his career.

I think I would rather have a toothpick in my eye and he used to be my favorite players that tells you something

I'm not sold on Brodin enough to give up anything substantial for him taking back Vanek's contract too.

He has one more year left. If we get them to agree to half his deal that's around 4.5? For one year. I'll take his offensive chip here and there and a much needed boost in our pathetic shootout record for a young top four left shot defenceman at a reasonable cap hit. I'd do that all day. I don't know if Minnesota would be willing to do it and what it would take though

I don't love Vanek but it wouldn't be the worst thing to have him back, maybe he has a bounce back season. He still has talent.

Cap hit is 6.5, so 50% would be 3.25

You must love punishment then...
He put up 41 points last year in a down year... Better then everyone but our top four players. If we can get a defenceman back that's young and a reasonable cap hit I'd take one year of him putting up at least 40 points. Oh how terrible...

This is a fair statement. I don't know a lot about Brodin but he seems like a young solid player

More about he's one guy I'm not interested in seeing in a Sabres sweater again.

I wouldn't mind signing Radim Vrbata for one year on the cheap.

Maybe 2nd(38), Pysyk for Brodin, Vanek? They probably wouldn't take that offer.

I thought he would get tons of goals and he hasn't just been so bad and Miko Koivu is no slouch I think he's going down the Dan Heatley decline

I don't give a (frank) about his attitude. He's a solid point producer and in a hypothetical that he could get you a solid defenceman that you'd normally have to overpay for I'll take a 40 point guy fora year anytime..

He's putting Lowpoint totals on good teams You think he suddenly going to click here even the Islanders said (frank) I don't want this guy and he was riding shotgun with Jt that tells you something

He's played with Coyle as his center most of the time.

Koivu never became the #1 center they hope for.

He also has a final year pay day on his contract of $9.180 mil

Hasn't put up 60 points since he signed that deal

He's a good player but is a better #2 center IMO.

Also they traded him because he wanted to test free agency, they weren't in the playoff hunt, so they moved him. He did very well with the Isles, they didn't let him go because of his play.

Brodin also had a down year and hasn't really turned the corner like they had hoped.

I guess it would depend on what you'd have to give.

Um they offered him a very similar deal to the one he was coming off of.

He said no thanks.
