I believe he will never draft a Russian .. If he would've gone with the best available player that would've been Barbashev in the 2014 Who was ranked in the top 20
And I believe he didn't pick him because he didn't even have him on his board - GERBE!!!75PTS
Who did we take in place of Barbashev?
What did we do with him?
I think a lot of you guys grossly underestimate GMTM.
Which would be a better commodity to trade? An unknown Russian or the son of a playoff beast?

He was ranked in the top 15 all year all the scouts said "Russian skill with North American grit" everything we could use now speed, sniper, high hockey IQ ,
And they compared him to tarasenko And who takes him the blues
The Same gm that told his father to trade the pick away ( tarasenko) for a bust defenseman I can guarantee you he had him off the board that's why he traded the pick away
And that was a bad pick to begin with he never wanted to sign with us or be drafted by us
So what?
Is this some kind of political conspiracy where you want to catch GMTM admitting on hidden camera that he hates Russian people?
Pretty sure the guy will go for BPA in the draft. He works for the team, not his personal feelings towards eastern european players. - seedy
Ehhhh, he was hired by the team to represent them and to better the team using his feelings on who is a good fit and of course using coaches, and scouts at his disposal. If he sees Russians as not being a good fit he's doing it on behalf of the team.
I don't know how much control he has though. Apparently the Pegulas had last say at the NFL draft. Last say, as in "ok, boss can I pick this guy?". Not last say as in "Ok, I'm picking this guy, cool?", or "I'm the owner. I have the right to veto anything you do."
After reading up on the various prospects I'm starting to like Sergachev and Chyrchrun even more than Jouevi and I get the feeling the teams above us feel the same... It seems like Jouevi is the furthest away from being ready for the NHL out of the three and also doesn't shine one particular asset. Sure he is more well rounded but I'm not so sure he does anything particuarly better than Chychrun or Sergachev. I've seen a lot more mocks that have Chychrun go ahead of Jouevi since the combine and I wouldn't be surprised if it comes down to Sergachev or Jouevi for us. I know all the BS about Russians so please don't make this about that but I'd personally prefer Sergachev and I've read at least ten times how he has the potential to even start in the league right away which makes me feel he is a bit more dynamic and mature. Either way it seems like Jouevi might be slipping a bit.

The penguins just showed you a blueprint how to win the cup so why draft A defenseman When you can get one ufa day stud forwards are harder to find - GERBE!!!75PTS

Granted, he's been injured for the entire Cup Finals, but the Penguins don't get to where they are now without the Trevor Daley trade. That was most likely the trade of the year.
