Please don't ever use couture in the same sentance as Bailey
- Dan Petriw

Not sure if you've been watching but the guy has been inivisible, trying for the pretty play/making the unecessary extra pass instead of shooting the puck

With that said Couture is miles ahead of Bailey yes, but the guy has been an engima this round. Thorton Burns Pavs all are at least positively noticeable

Matt Murray is just a brick wall.

I think Thorton has looked good, the Pens are smothering him so other players have to step up. To me it appears the Sharks D outaide of Vlasic and Burns cannot create transition, and they keep going for the hailmary goals (just throwing them at the cage hoping for a lucky bounce) instead of working for the ugly goals. Also, Couture has had Bailey syndrome all series. The guy looks for the pretty play instead of shooting

Did he do a Triple lutz at the blue line?

Perhaps they are in discussion and Staple is just out of the loop?
- kindlyrick

I don't think so. Could be wrong, but I just think it's a standard negotiating tactic.......one that Snow/Wang have employed many times. Show little interest, then start negotiating at the 11th hour.

Just like Nelson got signed at the last minute, I suspect that Nielsen will be, too. I understand the difference between RFAs and UFAs, but the principles of negotiation remain the same.

Martin is a bit less likely, and Okposo is all but gone....

Thornton and Burns played great last night. The rest of the team played awful. Couture and Pavelski had golden opportunities to score and didn't. Almost every good chance came off an unreal pass by Thornton. Burns was only guy who looked like he actually cared out there on the ice.
- niteislander

Agreed on Thornton and Burns shoots everything. Pavelski has passed first a few times he is the second leading scorer in league over last 5 years....shoot it also the pens have forced him outside and kept him away from the front and the soft areas

Scroll through Staples tweets, found these two thathe responded to a fan interestnf

Tweet 1: The delay is FN group presented offer to Snow, Snow was not a fan

Tweet 2: Fan "if we miss out on 21/51 we could very well come out worse next year"
Staples "or better"

Pavelski, Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Burns = ZERO goals.
- kindlyrick

Johnson and Kucherov 2 goals each in six games
Ovechkin 2 goals backstrom and Kuznetsov 0 goals in six games

My point is maybe pens deserve some credit.. That's all.

Pavelski had three scoring chances from within the faceoff dot.. Murray stopped them

The question remains: whom do they sign to replace Okposo's points? Stamkos? Lucic? Brad Boyes?

Yes he had more chances last night but the pens have done well to limit those all series and that's been thein game plan for him.

That's the biggest question.. I'm ok with the players departing if we get a better replacement

When a team is playing the way the penguins have played i think it goes without saying they've done a good job. Im not discounting the penguins, im just pointing out that in order for a team (any team) to win, your best players have to be your best players. On the Sharks, Joel Ward is the guy who has consistently scored the big goals. He's not supposed to be their top guy...

Halak is playing in world's regardless of his surgery. Anyone think this isnt the worst thing if he plays and plays well? Maybe someone will pick him up if he looks good and the isles haven't already moved him out

Yeah or he destroys his hips/groin even worse and nobody on earth will part with even a 7th round pick for him.

I'd rather he didn't play.

Yeah but that wouldn't necessarily result in the full savings of $4.5M and if he gets healthy he'd have to come off at some point and then the full hit would be back.
