Im not trying to be a d!ck, but do you even watch him play or are you going solely off scouting reports? Because maybe at U of D he had some edge playing against boys, but at the NHL level, he does not have an edge to his game. He's lost basically every fight he's been in at the NHL level. Being that he's 6 ft 4, and trying to become and NHL mainstay, fighting is an added bonus. I dont know what his PIMs in the A are like, but based on his NHL fighting, he looked like a boy hanging on.
As for my comment about facials, or after the whistle chops, being that he's 6 ft 4, if he's got an edge to his game, you'd see more of that kind of stuff. To me, he's got more Milan Jurcina to him, than Eric Cairns. - kindlyrick

Bailey and Nino, sure. Nelson and Lee are hardly kids...they'll be 25 and 26 respectively when the season starts...and they had plenty of time to develop. Strome finished juniors and had time in the AHL. dal Colle finished juniors and probably won't make the team out of camp, so he'll likely have time in the AHL. And we don't know what they'll do with Barzal yet, but there doesn't seem to be any urgency with him...meaning, if he doesn't turn a lot of heads in camp I don't think they'll rush him into the lineup.
I think BringNYIHome had a point...given that the team did take the time to wait and let these guys (Lee, Nelson, and Strome) develop, you'd like to see them be a bit more reliable in their roles. They all clearly have talent. Maybe it is just getting another year in...they wouldn't be the first players to take a step back in their second seasons in the league. But all three regressing from the year before should at least raise an eyebrow. - UIF
Lee was fine last season... He worked hard even when the points weren't there.. Nelson needs consistency and a coach that will make him use his size but he did score 25 goals last year.. The only total disaster was strome |

I agree.. He just has to work on his first step and his starts and stops.. If those improve he will be fine because his top end speed is fine |

We're hamonic, Cizikas, de Haan, Nielsen, Okposo and Martin developed correctly? - Dan Petriw
I think, with some exceptions, they've done better with the grit and character guys than the goal scorers and point producers. Guys who have developed in-house into reliable point producers: Tavares -- who pretty much developed himself, Nielsen, and Okposo. Some might debate KO being "reliable," but I'd put him there.
Seems to be, I don't know, more friction and indecisiveness with offensively gifted prospects: how to use them, where to play them, and how to communicate with them. A guy like Martin, maybe it's a bit easier. He hits and drops the gloves. Put him on the fourth line and let him wear his heart on his sleeve. A player like Strome might be a little trickier. Having never worked in player development, I have no idea if that's the case. Just an uneducated opinion from an observer.

Working hard is great, but he was on the first line for a pretty good stretch and not producing. For a player like Lee who isn't a defensive dynamo or a player that really moves the puck up ice, goals and points are a bit more important. To 6's point, he looked to be turning it around at the end of the season.
For all three of those players...I like them and want them to key top-6 players. But we're fooling ourselves if we're going to retroactively act like they were doing fine. We all knew during the season that the three of them didn't break out the way the organization expected them to when it cited their development as the reason for not bringing in outside offensive help last offseason. |

How many goals were scored because Lee was parked in front of the net.. 10? 12? Those don't show up in the score sheet but it was missed after he got hurt |

From a mock NHL draft;
19. New York Islanders - Logan Stanley, D, Windsor (OHL)
Some physicality on defense would help and at 6-7, 224 pounds, Stanley brings that element. He skates well for a player his size and likely will continue to improve. He won't be a big offensive producer, but could look pretty solid as the defensive half of a future pairing with Ryan Pulock. He showcased his endurance at the combine by going 12:30 on the VO2 max bike test, the longest of any player.

I'm also interested in Max Jones who would appear to have size and strength which are in short supply in our Top 9. Also, by his stats (+30), he would seem to be defensively responsible.

Like I said I would have no issues if the isles traded Into the early second for him. But that has nothing to do with who his dad is. I saw him play a lot this season and he really stood out
