Honestly Dan-
This feels like a re-tread post from all of the past three seasons.
5 outta the last 6 years JT has had no support while our, highly-ranked young talent is faltering under the "guidance" of our coaching staff.

Im sick of the same off season discussions. I can already predict this team will convene for training camp with questions still needing answers and roster holes to be filled.

With new owners, there needs to be change that brings different(improved) results. There needs to be accountibility. Not a reshuffled deck sprinkled with a few new faces who bring marginal contributions to the table.

I disagree that you cannot remove gm/coach before the draft. Anyone in the biz has to know how to evaluate talent and the rankings have been available for more than a year.. Film is available on all players to asess talent etc. Sometimes, new "eyes" on an old problem will see things differently which isn't always a bad thing-not when the problem has yet to be solved. There's no more time for a 2nd, 3rd 5th or 8th chance to get it right.

We are in this position because of poor coaching and piss poor player development. Did you know that during our rebuild years of 2008-2013, we spent the least amount of money on player development in the league? This could account for why this team has had so many disappointing picks. These young kids all come in looking like the real deal and never seem to get any better. I hate to say it, but they clearly ruined Bailey and Nino. Strome, Nelson and Lee have already started their backward trend. Dal Colle and Barzal are probably next unless something changes

What is the actual cost of player developement? To me, the kids you mentioned for the most part were just rushed into the league.

Also shouldn't Snow be wondering why our young players are not progression like they should be.

I wouldn't think. Either we're drafting the wrong players or they're not being developed properly. OR they need some more time.

I like Mayfield's grit. I like that he hits...etc. That said he loses every fight I have seen and I have seen a ton. I have not seen an Islander lose that many fight since Steve Webb. I loved Webb but He never won a fight. It was almost comical.

I get your point but, Nino was being a dack. I don't like how the Isles were using him, but a kid that hasn't proven anything can't act like that. As far as Bailey, there were questions about his drive before he was drafted. It looks like those assessments were correct and he never should have been drafted that high.

I mean look, Mayfield is a big body....that can be utilized no doubt. But lets not start calling him an edgy player, cause he's not. He is however better than Brian Strait and shoulda been up last season.

The Isles winning a round bought Cappy and Garth more time. If the Isles do not do better this year than have to think the new owners make changes next offseason,

I never knew that Baileys drive was a question mark before he was drafted.....interesting and certainly true.

Nino was a punk for being unproven and making demands, but i will say this. The one thing that always baffled me, is here you have a top 5 pick and he wasnt even invited to camp. How can you make that argument? He wasn't even asked to try out.....thats crazy to me.

I really hope you're right, but nothing is obvious with this team. As I mentioned earlier, look at the pens. Its amazing what a coaching change did.

I still would have put Nino with JT the entire year instead of playing him on the 4th line. It's not like the Isles had much better options and were a playoff team. Try him with JT first and then you move him down if needed. Nino was immature, but the Isles did not handles thing well either.

Nothing is for sure, but I would think the new owners want their own people and do not just want to do the same things as Wang. Wang kept on MM which did not work out at all.

I agree......it really makes you scratch your head sometimes. I think its very telling that Garth Snow is so adamant about keeping Capuano. Can you really say that a coaches job is untouchable? Especially from a guy who's never won anything? Noones job should be guarenteed.....not in pro sports.

Chiefs got a timeout for trying to send me Richard pics again. He did want me to tell you guys this, and I quote "Mayfield is a mean, tough sob and loves facials."

Personally, i would have liked to have seen the new owners come in and clean house. New GM, new coaches etc. At this point its kind of like being at a bad black jack table. You can keep sitting there and hope the luck changes, but after a while you gotta just get up and try something else. Garth took over almost 10 years ago. I personally don't think one playoff series win should make his job safe. He had more than enough time......its time to try something else.

I don’t think anyone would disagree with you regarding strait, except Capuano

Bailey and Nino, sure. Nelson and Lee are hardly kids...they'll be 25 and 26 respectively when the season starts...and they had plenty of time to develop. Strome finished juniors and had time in the AHL. dal Colle finished juniors and probably won't make the team out of camp, so he'll likely have time in the AHL. And we don't know what they'll do with Barzal yet, but there doesn't seem to be any urgency with him...meaning, if he doesn't turn a lot of heads in camp I don't think they'll rush him into the lineup.

I think BringNYIHome had a point...given that the team did take the time to wait and let these guys (Lee, Nelson, and Strome) develop, you'd like to see them be a bit more reliable in their roles. They all clearly have talent. Maybe it is just getting another year in...they wouldn't be the first players to take a step back in their second seasons in the league. But all three regressing from the year before should at least raise an eyebrow.
