But we all know what happens. Garth can't sign an top tier ufa and ends up signing a couple bottom 6 forwards for top 6 prices. God I hope this year is different. Wait, isn't that what we've said for the past 5-6 years?

When did that ever happen?

Success....change it...brilliant. I still don't know why kid line was broken up last year after one bad game and not reunited for 63 games only to play 1 period and never play together again

I believe he's referring to Kulemin and Grabovski.

I wouldn't say Kulemin is making top 6 money and Grabovski is a top 6 player when his brain isn't mashed potatoes. It's not like Garth signed him knowing he'd get a whole slew of concussions.

Hah.......i have to laugh because Stempniak would totally be the isles move.
- kindlyrick

Was hoping the Oil would sign him actually, especially if the move Eberle.

The only thing I'm a bit weary about is overpaying him for having an anomaly season last year. Some idiot might give him $2M/yr and end up getting like 25pts out of him

Typically GM's do overpay for an anomaly. Hoping to capture lightning in a bottle.

Well it wasn't a HUGE anomaly for him. Stempniak has put up two 50+ point seasons and two 40+ point seasons in his career. I figure he would in a worst case scenario be expected to pot 35+ points with about 15 goals. Also defensively reliable. Then there is the McDavid effect. He makes Yak and Maroon look good so Stempniak would probably be good for 50+points as his winger.
I'd give him $2M for 2.

How many free agents are not overpaid? Owners lock out the players cause they say they can't afford them and then sign them to ludacris deals

If Stempniak was our 3RW next year I'd actually be thrilled. 2RW would be ok if say Stammer was our RW1.

He had a couple prior to being signed and was playing on the third and fourth line when he wasn't sitting in the press box for the caps. Not worth debating but them the facts

Grabo was the caps 3rd line center majority of the time as far as I remember when he played for the Caps.

The thing that really boggled my mind is, Franzy was put out there ultimately just to gain the zone as pathetic as that is. Somehow they threw Okposo out there, when he's barely able to stay on his feet. To add insult to injury, they'd have righties playing on the right side and lefties on the left.......so much for one timers!
- kindlyrick

that drove me bonkers. why put boychuk on the PP on the wrong goddamn side for a one timer? absolutely stupid.

Brock Nelson is a 3rd line center on the Islanders, does that mean we can rule him out as a top-6 player?
