It's the old wait till next year mantra. I want off the merry go round he has had enough time as far as I'm concerened. Stopped caring when he endorsed the coaching staff again. Completely inept IMO. Guy isn't doing his job. He could have the greatest offseason in islander history but with the wrong guy (s) running the bench it's all for naught. I've seen enough proof of that no matter how many Snow fans try to dimish the importance of a coach. It's laughable.

Look at the Penguins no matter how much it pains me to say it. Oh well here we go again what's the definition of insanity again?

Well I say wait till next year because I honestly don't see the new owners removing him on the 1st day of free agency and therefore we are in for another year whether we like it or not. I think crappy should have been fired 2 years ago when trots and others were available but that didn't happen. I'm not a snow apologist if he's fired then hopefully we get someone that can do the job right. Pens should be exhibit a for what a coach can do for a team. Cappy refusing to use timeouts match lines and changing them period to period is ludicrous. He needs to give them the riot act sometimes hold players accountable, I realize they are pros but I'm pretty sure most coaches go off at times. Finally he's not an x and o type of coach which could be why they run around the d zone like a Chinese fore drill at times

Yea I feel like he was handcuffed for a long time but the last few years has had more freedom to spend and try and improve the team. Has he succeeded? Not yet, should he be given more time? idk. I think if this off season is a failure and they don't get replacements for ok Neilson and Martin then his time is up. They cannot afford to take a step back especially with jt in his prime
- Upstate_isles

I don't fully buy that. You can be handcuffed and still get a proven coach. Its a lot easier than signing a big name player. Wang built a culture of no accountability going back to Milbury. That trickles down to the players. I'm hoping the new owners can change the culture. The fact that Crappy coming back is extremely disheartening. We can only hope there are some amazing off season moves and the team can succeed in spite of Fred Flintstone.

I meant player wise but yea he could have replaced the coach. I always got the feeling that Wang was losing so much money that he wanted to spend as little as possible so what we saw was the end result. Cappy sucks

Keeping Cappy all this time is very damaging to Garth. No two ways around it and especially since we have seen a number of proven coaches hired the last few years elsewhere. This team is coming off a series win with new owners so Garth had better get it done this offseason in FA and trades. No excuses.

My post wasn't directed at you in any way really. My opinion is what it is just sick of seeing the same inept routine year after year. Zero accountability from the top down to the players. You can see it.

I agree. Every year there's a marginal reason for people to argue "One more year" for Cappy & Garth b/c this or that. Baby steps won't get us there. There needs to be an impact move(s). There's no guarantee we will be winners in the off-season or even replace the players we may lose. The only guarantee is another group of draft picks. We have been incredibly lucky that most of our 1st rounders have made it or are still projected to make it. The window is closing on Garth & Cappy because they have yet to prove in any year that they can make a leap with this team. We have not clinched a playoff spot more than a week or last 3-4 games of a season. We have been unable to sign a Free Agent that plays a Top 3 offensive role or Top pair on D. We could have traded Okposo last Summer but Garth wouldn't pull the trigger. Don't tell me we couldn't have gotten Kessel for KO + pick(s) from Leafs. Garth wouldn't do it. Jagr was available TWICE in the last 4 years. Garth passed on him(the biggest Islander killer of all-time and still an impact player). The non-moves have turned out to be bigger mistakes than the crap signings of players like Boyes & Connacher who were given 1st line time out of camp. Safe & steady does not win the race—it may look like progress but it's the CYA approach in sports. It's been almost a decade with Garth and 6 years with Cappy. At some point you have to give up and smell reality. These guys will NEVER get us to the ECF and you can't expect JT to stick around and be loyal when he's given a different pair of players to carry every year since he got here.

That's been everyone's reasoning/rationale for the past 4 years. "Next year's the year!" How many times can you make excuses?

I've never made excuses for Garth and Cappy. I have no problem with replacing both now, but it does not look like it will happen this offseason since the new owners do not take over until July 1. With Wang as owner they were going nowhere. We have to hope things will be different with the new owners.

Do you think that the new owners are going to fire cappy on day 1? This is a serious question and I believe they wont for the simple reason that if he's gone he already should be, not draft the future if he's around for only 7 more days. I'm not making excuses for him I'd prefer cappy gone and he's failed to bring in a proven coach and top end free agents

In fairness, how do u fire a guy who took team to PO's last year? Plus this year get into 2nd rd? As much as I hate Flintstone, he has succeeded team expectations, so how does a Gm fire a guy who has done his job?

Reverse rolls, and u were the coach, do u think u should be fired?

There is always an out of work coach looking for work and especially when you have a JT. There would have been very little pressure coaching this team and just having a competitive team would have made a coach look really good.

I'm still not convinced that if Garth wanted to hire a better coach that Wang would not have paid the money. Coaches do not get paid close to what players get and the Babcock deal is unheard of for coaches.

Ok, Wankers, whats the deal with Okposo? Is he poop or something? Why no effort to resign him?

Okposo is tremendous. We'll trade you his rights plus our first rounder for Hall.

OK, so he has a tendency to trip on the blue line. I mean, who doesn't?

Not just the blue line....every line and if he could play up to his potential all the time he would be resigned cause when he does he can be a force however it's inconsistant

GM & Scouts are responsible for the draft. Coach is the Coach— and for the Isles about as useful as Wang's grandson at the Draft. Ledecky & Malkin don't have the power to do anything prior to July 1 but if after the draft they tell Garth to explore other coaches, he would have to do it.

That was supposed to be snow day 1 I didn't see I put crappy there by mistake. I just don't see them removing snow after he does the draft. I think the new owner could get snow removed prior to if they really wanted to

That sounds like an argument from the movie Idiocracy.
