Go for it.

I really liked Streit his first 2 seasons, but last year he was just flat-out bad. His decision making was bad, his lack of speed became more evident, and he just seemed lost most of the time.

I don't think you'll get a 2nd prior to the draft after how he played last season.

Did you think boston would give us a 3rd for rinaldo.
Did you think we would trade vinny last yr, how about a 3rd for Grossman?

The nhl is the king of giving players 5th chances, especially for a player that quarterbacked the pp just 1 season ago. He also only has one year on his contract which means he can be exposed for the expansion draft.

Do I think this will happen, probably not. Is it possible..absolutely.

I think each team loses 2 players per new expansion team, but I could be wrong.

I thought it was one per expansion team.
But I could be wrong.

Did anyone see the report of the Islanders having interest? Just saw a headline but forgot from where and if it actually was a credible person?
- J35Bacher

If its the same article i saw a couple days ago, it was an opinion piece where the writer said players the Isles should target. In the same section for Streit, it discussed trying to get Simmonds from us as well. Not sure if its same article though.

Ok.

I saw it somewhere but only saw the deadline and didn't get a chance to read it.

And as I said, I do not think it will happen either. Sure, it can happen. Do I think it's likely? No. If someone offers you a second, you do it in a second.

And I thought we could trade Grossmann, but Pronger was the surprising one.

The surprise to me was not only trading Vinny but him announcing he would retire. It was like a buyout without any of the consequences.

But still haven't seen it official. I'll always hold my breath until papers are filed.

Does the expansion draft occur after the calendar year begins? What I'm wondering is how a player like Umberger would need to be protected despite being a pending FA AND Morin would have two full years of pro experience.

- PhillySportsGuy

Previous expansion drafts happened in late June, just before the draft. Umberger's contract runs until 7/1/17, but he's getting bought out so it's not a problem.

From what I've read players like Morin won't have to be protected in a June, 2017 expansion draft because they are still in their second year of pro hockey. Hagg would have to be protected or exposed because he played in the AHL as a 19 year old.

First- and second-year pros — those are players playing pro hockey at any level — will be exempt from the expansion draft; the bottom line is that if they are signed and playing pro hockey, they’re exempt in their first two years.

Are we sure that milk cartons are the best places to put missing children/hockey players on anymore? I go several days at a time without looking at milk cartons.

I think he would be. I don't believe Morin would need to be. Not sure about Hagg.

We'll see what happens this offseason. If Hexy goes out and signs a top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman for multiple years, the Flyers may risk losing a decent player. If it were me, I'd protect

dmen
Ghost
MDZ (assuming he re-signs long term)
Gudas

Forwards
G
Voracek
Schenn(assuming he's still here)
Simmonds
Couturier
Raffl
Laughton

Goalie
Stolarz

- PhillySportsGuy

Bold move protecting Stolarz and Mason or Neuvirth, IMHO

For me, the Pronger trade wasn't surprising at all. It was a no brainer. Just about anyone who posts on this board could've pulled it off.

I could kind of see it coming, there was tension between Vinny and the coaching staff and Vinny wanted to play more and made it pretty clear he wanted traded.

That's the way to go, IMHO. More negotiating leverage.
