Id rather keep Nash and ship out/buy out one of Girardi or Staal tbh
But something has to happen with the cap staying flat or even going down. - mrn22
Not to mention the expansion shyt. cant have both of those d men protected |

Daly said today that NMCs that expire or change after the 2016-17 season will not have to be protected, contrary to Brooks' statement that they would a few days ago.
So we won't have to protect Girardi. |

Yup I agree. Too much money tied up right now. Maybe though they just ride it out this year, Nash will look a lot more attractive if he has a good year this year and only has 1 year left on his contract.
Also could be trade deadline move if the Rangers are playing like crap next year. |

We will see. Dude had a busted knee cap and a concussion. I had a deep bruise on my kneecap once and that poop was painful as hell just walking. I think if they are both healthy you will be surprised.
Part of me also wants to see Nash traded and tear it up somewhere else because all the crap he got from this miserable fan base. - mdw7413
If a team were willing to take Nash and the Rangers didn't have to eat any salary, what would the return you'd expect? Would NYR do it for 2 second round picks, knowing that their prospect system is weak and they are clearing nearly 8 million without taking any back ? |

I think it would be a pretty bad return if no salary is retained. Its why I would rather hold onto Nash till at the least the deadline next year |

God you're so (frank)ing soft I can't (frank)ing stand it
(frank) this team blow it up and trade the core. Rangers can't afford to "wait it out one year" because pansies like you are emotionally attached and physically attracted to men with chiseled chins and blue eyes. |

yep, they haven't actually gone through with an arbitration in a while
seems like everytime they have one scheduled in recent memory that get to that morning and sign a deal right before hearing |

Zherdev the last one?
Wonder if Kreider is going to go that route after what Czikas got. |

Didn't Avery get a 1 year deal and then left for Dallas after the Rangers signed Redden? Pretty sure, because Avery made some comments of the Rangers value an outsider over him. Then the Rangers traded for Zherdev that off season correct? He went to Arbitration and the Rangers walked away. Then he left for the KHL?

Dubinsky was close to arbitration several times, right? |

I think he was referring to Drury and Gomez over Redden.
Man, the Rangers really blew whatever excess cap space they once had after the '07 season. |

He was on team with Gomez and Drruy though. He left year after. He and Jagr. That's how the Rangers had money to sign Redden? |

they had an opportunity to match what Dallas gave Avery, I really don't remember details with that anymore

Hoping Gorton takes care of the team's RFAs quickly, this time around.
Wouldn't be a good thing if any of them, especially Kreider, goes to arbitration. |

I said it at the time, and I'll say it now
the Rangers should have treated McDonagh and Stepan exactly the same in the summer of 2013
if they did, they'd both have 4.7 mil cap hits right now |

I think Hayes and Miller get done quick. Have a feeling about Kreider though, thats its going to be drawn out. |

The Rangers had money for Avery but Sather went in a different direction because he thought he can get an Avery type, Voros, for half the price.
The Summer of 08 was a horrendous one for the Rangers and the Avery dilemma was part of it. |

Well that atrocious Cizikas deal ruined leverage for every GM dealing with an RFA forward this summer. |
