Four out of twelve would be considered a lot.

If Miller exceeds last year's production, I think you can considered him a legitimate top six type forward.

Defense is definitely what did this team in last season. TAo go from a perennial top five defensive team to 17th overall is quite a horrible descent.

Next year they have to get Raanta into a lot more games in the 1st 1/2 of the season. Hank was not himself last year. I think fatigue has a lot to do with it.

And the poor defense is a big factor in the offense's overall decline too.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers went after quality defensemen this offseason before forwards. If Kreider or Nash are moved, it could be for a Vatanen.

Yesterday I cited an article, on which players are most likely to be dealt, from SB Nation, and Vatanen was on that list. He is once again linked to the Rangers which I don't have a problem with. He's still on a good contract and is a few years younger than Shattenkirk.

This would be a very good move depending on what the Rangers need to give to make it happen, of course.

I think Raanta is capable of starting 25 times next season.

Overall, he had a pretty good season.

I thought he strained his uterus when he threw the goal net at the ref.

I don't think it matters. Every year the Rangers say they want their backup to play more games. And every year Hank plays more and more games then the year before.

Hank, like the team, looked like a shell of himself as the season wore on.

Hank's ego has a lot to do with this.

Who runs the team though? I understand he wants to play, but he aint getting any younger, he has played a ton of playoff games, the olympics, someone has to just sit his ass on the bench

We should just have McDonagh stick him in the throat again to get him some rest.

Yep, was in a zone and the team looked like they were well on their way to an easy season.

Enter late November and all of December. Reality brutally sets in and Hank couldn't will his defense to wake up. Hank deserves some blame, especially in the first round against the Pens, but in the regular season the defense let him down a lot.

I like Raanta enough to think he can start 25-30 games and the team won't be in trouble.

I will only say this. The are a lot of good teams in the East now, so it is an achievement just to make the playoffs these days. The problem is that if the Rangers are in a pack of the teams in the middle that are all battling for the playoffs, it's hard to get Raanta that many games -- i.e., rest for Hank is only good if you make the damn playoffs. Playoffs are going to be tough to make in the next several years, I think.
