I'm here to post today to memorialize a moment where I agree with James Tanner. This is an excellent blog by Ryan today. More analysis like this please. Well done.

Rumors cap is staying flattish next year. If that is the case then we have cap issues especially with resigning schultz. Might force our hand on Fleury. Which I'm fine with getting little return on Fleury if it means keeping schultz long-term. I think he's an exceptional fit. He's also entering his prime. I'd also think hard about moving Daley to resign Schultz. One year versus a potential long-term replacement.

I don't think Daley is being moved. Letang, Daley, maatta, dumo is a solid top 4 and really carried the pens the second half of the season. to be honest, as long as that top 4 stays, I'm ok with Schultz, lovejoy, or even Cole moving on. Let pouliot take a 3rd pairing spot permanently and sign a cheap dman in UFA or even resign lovejoy for the same price. Depending on the situation, fleury could possibly bring in a dman if they are deadset on moving him.

Don't forget maatta's new contract kicks in next season so they may be looking to get rid of Cole's contract

I actually have an office in DC so I get to eat at a couple of the original five guys down there. My favorite burger spot in the metro area is The Burger Joint in Alexandria...I love their stuff

Yeah... you aren't some 4-10 year old obviously. Most kids would rather getting to spend time with their dad, not having to move again, etc, then more money.

That is 2C money. Seems a bit high if the cap doesn't go up. Over 30 I would want nothing to do with that much. 4 x 4 when he's UFA would be great value.

Daley is aging. Schultz is entering his prime. That is why you would have to think about moving Daley to resign schultz. I think Schultz could step into the Daley role next year. I got no interest in trading Fleury for NHL players (besides a LW). That is what got the hawks in trouble. They traded sharp without just doing a salary dump for picks. Then they lost their 4D because they didn't have the cash to sign him. Schultz fits with us. I'd rather dump salary to sign him than get someone else back in a trade.
