On the Couture deal: It is human nature for a person to complain/whine/make excuses to take the focus off of oneself. This is what Logan is clearly doing with his complaint about Crosby on faceoffs.

Instead of answering his own critics or inability to keep up or provide offense, he redirects focus on Crosby cheating. Does he deep down think Crosby is cheating, he may but this is a very immature human response to knowing himself that Crosby is just in another universe.

I love the general attitude that permitted through DeBoer, Burns, and Couture's quotes after the game. First DeBoer basically denies that the Sharks got worked over in Game 2 and claims they don't need to make any adjustments. Then Burns comes out and says something to the effect that we're no faster than the Blues... let that sink in... And then Couture starts female doging about Crosby cheating in the faceoff dot.

These comments tells me the Sharks are stubborn, delusional, cocky, and frustrated. You can see it on the ice as well through punk antics by Thornton and others. If they don't check themselves, which is kind of hard to do this late in the game, this could be a disaster for the Sharks. How do do you skate away from that game thinking you were fine and don't need to make adjustments? How, after spending the entire game in your own zone getting worked, do you not point the finger at yourself and say you need to be better rather than blaming something as mundane as the other team cheating in the faceoff circle? How in bloody (frank)ing Christ can you not acknowledge that the Penguins are a completely different beast from the (frank)ing St. Louis Blues when it comes to speed. The Blues, for crying out loud! If their mind set doesn't change a sweep isn't out of the question. If I'm a San Jose fan I'm furious at my team for making it this far and then not having the mental fortitude or the proper preparation to compete.

It's interesting that Mike Johnson went all in on team defense and got neither offense nor defense because of it. Sullivan, on the other hand, devised a strategy around the strengths of the team and its players and got both offense and defense.

I won't take all credit away from Sullivan, because I think his coaching style has been the main catalyst for the change. But Johnston didn't have hagelin or daley. Not saying they would have helped johnston's style but they have definitely played to the strengths of sullivans.
