Isn't it ironic that the bottom half of the roster killed the pens in previous years and now will win them a cup in a few days
- homiedclown

Exactly. We haven't had a decent or good bottom six since, well, the last time we won the Cup. A year ago, we had Sutter with crap on the third line ... and a worse fourth line. Today, we have an awesome third and a very solid fourth.

As us pens fans have been saying for years now, its not sids fault this team was built terrible for so long.

More importantly wtf is with your location? Thats gotta be a dumb but cool story.

I guess for some it's easier to sleep at night just telling yourself your team is incapable of showing up for not one, but two cups final games in a row. Yup, that's more palatable. I'd be a fan of that team.

#logic haha

I know my biggest disappointment and anger with this team has always been losing to teams they are no doubt better than.

I would love to see the Penguins change what they've been doing for 100 games this season and go with a super risky blue line on the PP when they're 2 wins away from the SCF

Great ideas guys!

#shorksshorksshorks

- rangerdanger94

It's far less risky to have a completely ineffective PP that can't score you goals. Also Letang has looked leagues more turnover prone as the QB than Schultz has and that's what's going to cause the fast break in the first place. No one ever talks about a "risky PP blue line". It just shouldn't even be considered when putting a PP unit together.

But you right. We should probably take advice on how to build a well function PP from a Rangers fan. Your PP was almost as bad as ours.

That and the rookies playing on the top two lines.

Jagr had 3 playoff goals in his rookie season but Rust has 6 and Sheary now has 4.

So many things are different now compared to the past few playoff seasons.

He may be forced to if nobody employs him
- tpcg402

For that to happen then Kings would have to buy him out at which point there will be a Scuds related cap hit on our books for two more years.

OK. Dude is done. There's a reason three teams are paying him with two of them paying him to not be there.
- tpcg402

I don't disagree with you. I just don't think the NHL can force the player to retire.

Not sure it's ironic more so than proving a point. Our bottom six has been something that practically the entire fanbase has been pointing to as a major problem and low and behold as soon as it's changed we start to succeed in a major way. It makes me very sad that we waisted so many years of Crosby and Malkin's prime with garbage rosters. What could have been, I guess...

Well I guess my only hope is that he doesn't make LAK out of training camp and he calls it quits on his own. It's a ~$1.125 cap hit for Pens right now, and that $ could go to Schultz in theory and possibly field current team without having to trade MAF, Kuni, or Daley to be cap compliant. It will def be tight and might not be enough cap savings anyways.

They should just offer to make Kunitz assistant coach and be done with this trouble

While Kunitz isn't the player he was a few years ago, he still is producing at a rate that justifies his cap hit IMO and the Pens have little depth at LW. I'm fine if he plays his final year out.

Yeah, Kunitz is the last of our problems. LW is a position of weakness and he still makes a lot of good plays while driving possession.

Daley has 1 more year and is a really good defenseman we could use.

Fleury is the logical trade, his cap hit is bigger than Kunitz and Daley. We already have his replacemant making 800k for another two years. No brainer.

Cause guys love to just walk away from 3.3 million and playing AHL hockey. Ain't gonna happen. He's on the books for next year.

King have zero incentive to buy him out. They can stash him in the ahl. To the kigns with all the cap retained scuderi is like 300-400k cap hit in he's in the ahl.

Not saying it's gonna happen or expect it to. Why I said it's my only hope. The $1+ mil could go a long ways for Pens is all.

It's simply a question of if Scuds decides the extra couple million for 1 years is worth riding buses & staying at 2* hotels & playing in front of 8000 people a night at his age. Is he married? Kids? I don't know (really) but he might decide "screw it, I've made my money, I'm not going back to the bus instead of the plane & the 2* hotel next to the Carls Jr instead of the 4* with a hotel bar & room service" if they stash him in the minors.

But maybe he wants to play for his love of the game still & does it & even signs another AHL deal next year or someone gives him a try-out just so he can try to prolong his career a little longer.

IMPRESSED, with the 'guins forward attack. Not to be left out is the solid job back-checking, not just in the final but throughout the playoffs. 14 down.....
