Its hard to tell with him... he didn't fully move to Pittsburgh for this season, but he does love it here. His kids really enjoy the place and all of our stars, as well as the family area at the practice arena.
I think it'll be half a decision for his wife if he would play another year here. His kids I assume, will say yes obviously based on how they acted in his article. - Guile
He didn't fully move to Pittsburgh? I remember an interview where he said he was blown away that crosby picked him up after he signed and showed him around Pit and where good places were to buy a house with good school districts for his kids. |

Yeah I didn't say I think Cullen will be on the Pens. I just dont think he's going to retire. He has 3 very young boys and If he can go earn the same money, but realistically probably a bit more, as this season next season, then I really think he will. - MattStrat
if you read his post on the tribune you would see that he probably wants to stay |

Kids not in school, because he didn't plan on staying here after the season.
If his kids enroll, then I will be leaning more towards him playing another season. |

Just in: Malkin and Fleury to the Flyers for Mason and a 2017 6th round pick. - E4 - NJPensfan
No way, that 6th is worth more than Mr. Disinterested and a head case. |

Just read Yohe's part of the insider. Apparently Sullivan loves Phill Kessel and lobbied hard on his behalf to team USA and probably sold Tortarella. Lombardi was having none of it. Sucks for team USA. I'll be rooting for the kids this time around and will wait patiently for Betman to blink and allow NHL participation in the Olympics and will look forward to a Sullivan lead USA squad. If Lombardi keeps putting together squads like this he won't last until the Olympics as USA's GM.
Yohe thinks the lockerroom can convince Matt Cullen to come back. I'm neutral to this. Matt Cullen has been a favorite of mine this season, but he's also older and we've got youngsters biting at the heals for roster spots. I wouldn't mind seeing Matty Ice retire with the Cup in his hands after this season. - Victoro311
Who do we have biting for Cullen's spot on the roster? Sundqvist can't do what Cullen does. Not next year and I'm not sure his ceiling is above 38 year old cullen production.
I'd prefer to resign Cullen and trade Fehr. Also frees up a million in cap. |

I'd love for Cullen to come back on similar deal or slight raise. I don't see the fourth line scoring many goals with Fehr or Sundqvist centering them. Also Dumo had 16 points in regular season(all assists) in 79 games. In playoffs he has 7 points in 20 games(1g, 6a). He'll prob get $1mil less than Maatta or up to Maatta money IMO. - tpcg402
He's getting maata money at a minimum probably more. I'm not saying Dumoulin is better than Maata, but we are talking rfa versus ufa years so their not comparable. I think Dumoulin can get to be a 30 pt guy. His goal total has been bad, but maybe its just bad luck. Over 5 might be too much, but if he makes it to UFa and increases points which is likely he can get nisky money. |

They make the worst trades.
Shattenkirk+ Stewart +2nd-Johnson+Mclement+1st
ROR+McGinn-Zadarov+Gregierenko+Compher+31st
Let Statsny walk
Barrie is done
Mac is a stud, that kid could be a super star but its such a crap team. Arguably the worst managed club in the league |

We have a lot of forwards that will be making a case next year. Just off the top of my head of guys that are currently not on the roster that will be making a push are Wilson, Sprong, Simon, Sundqvist and Guentzel and then some longer shots like Bleuger. If you don't resign Cullen you move Fehr to 4C and make room for one of the wings. |

Well then let's give them Daley, Pouliot and Kunitz for Tyson Barrie if their so dumb. Established vet at D they can resign, a gritty veteran leader to add to their other ver leaders like Iginla and company, and then a good prospect for a weak blue line. It's the pieces they've been missing! Cup for sure next year! |

F the extra day between games for travel. I get it and it makes sense but it helps them way more. It lowers the impact of the momentum, gives more time to rest (which I believe they need more than the pens), and makes my days boring. But I do think this extra day could help Maatta and Sheary. Maatta needs to figure out some way to be more consistent. This extra day may just help him rest for that. Sheary has been good but it seems he gets tired and needs a rest after a while. Now maybe he wont need to be scratched a game to keep it up. Overall this extra day helps them way more so I hate it. Even though its fair. |

ROR trade seemed fine to move. Thought they couldn't sign him and got a decent haul. Granted I'd rather have ROR, but the guys they picked up have potential.
FWIW Vancouver is the worst managed team and I do not think its close. |

I respect your opinion, but I doubt they give him more $ than Maatta. Although I think Dumo is the better player for now, but I just can't see him getting more $ than Maatta. If GMJR waits til next season and Dumo doubles his production from regular season, then I could see Maatta money. I guess we'll find out soon enough and will give you props if/when you re right. |

I'd ship them DP + Kuni to be honest for Barrie. Why keep DP around then? I think there will be a lot of buyers for Barrie though.
If AV's screw it up too much I can see Mac out the door ASAP. Mac, Duchene and Landeskog are awesome players. Its a shame management is so terrible. Its not just the GM, the owner sucks. He spends more time on the Nuggets. |

They like having 5C. Wilson should be on the team. The rest of them are huge question marks. If Cullen is willing to sign vet minimum then what do we lose having the extra depth. Call-ups if we get a bunch of injuries. I don't think we can count on call-ups having the same hit rate as last year. |

Like Z said above, if Cullen's looking for a raise I wouldn't want to take it. The flexibility that I thought we had with the cap jumping 3 mil is now gone. Not saying we're in a bad place with the cap at all, but we're going to have to do some finagling and prioritize our offseason. I think our priorities this offseason should be as follows:
1. Resign J. Schultz
2. Adress LW
3. Resign Matt Cullen
Obviously LW can be addressed in a lot of ways and not all of them involve taking on cap, and Schultz may be unresignable, but at the end of the day I just wouldn't prioritize resigning Matt Cullen. - Victoro311
I would put trading flower number2, as that adresses your number 2 |

What choice do they have? Dumoulin could just take a bridge deal and then target nisky money. I think he's only unsigned for 1 or 2 rfa years. So in that case take 2-3 million for those years and then target ufa. |

Your reasoning is like saying the pirates can't pay a pitcher more than Gerrit cole gets. All professional leagues have salary structures that steal from young players to pay veterans more. |
