I think too much is made about what players are thinking. Like this mess that Malkin is unhappy being a 2C when he has done literally nothing to suggest that. Fleury is a strong family man. Who's to say he wouldn't be alright taking on a reduced role in order to stay where his family has roots and reduce the chances of further concussions all the while collecting his 6 mil pay check?

That being said, he's the most likely to be dealt. He has the biggest cap hit and is also the most expendable.

- Victoro311

End of the day he has 'some' control over his playing future, but the organisation aren't going to want a back up earning nearly 6m. Flower won't be a Penguin for too much longer through next year unless Muzza is injured or regresses which (touch wood), never happens, ever ever.

Obviously not, but do you think he signed a new 3 year 5.75 (.75 raise) per to be a tandem?

He's 31 or 32, not 36 and up for mentoring the next gen. yet.

He just won team MVP and posted another 30+ win season. They guy wants to be "the guy."

Fine. Theres a 5% chance. I can compromise.

2nd rounder and a decent prospect... pretty sure most of us are okay with that.

And no, very few of us are gifting DP a spot. He can compete for the bottom pairing, in the scenario of trading Daley, and keeping Schultz to become the mid pairing with Dumo.

- Guile

Can we take a moment to appreciate Dumo... who was the throw in (not quite a throw in, but a good sweetener) pick from the Staal / Sutter deal.

Of all the D prospects we've traded (none of whom have made any impact in the league for another team, yet) Dumo was touted to be good but less so than a lot of guys in the system (Joe Morrow, Harrington, DP, Maatta). And look who quietly surfaced to the top of the pile.

What kind of coin does Dumo ask for after next year? 4.5?

EDIT: the bold part (credit to Martox)

My bad. Tangradi was the Whitney throw in.

Either way. What kind of coin does Dumo command?

How old will dumoulin be when he starts his next contract 26? So he's mostly buying out UFA years? Could push towards 6.

5.5-6 seems like its the market for prime age mid-pairing defenders who are UFA

Dumoulin won't get 6 mil AVV. He doesn't have the offensive output for that contract in today's NHL, nor does he have the #gritness reputation that some old school GMs over value. I think Dumo gets ~4 years at upper 3 mil AAV. Very similar to Despres, actually. That's what I'm calling.

No it's pretty well known and you're right the chemo pills he has to take still is what makes him look goofy. I'm surprised at how many people don't know about this though. When I went to Joe Louis, I was bsing with some wings fans and they literally had no idea when I dropped that factoid.
- Victoro311

Didn't he win the perseverance award for it? Again im probably wrong so I dont know.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. He should get Despres-Maatta money. Hopefully they extend him early next season or he could end up commanding 5mil per if he has another great season.

So according to the leafs blog, the expansion perameters might change and anyone with any NMC has to be protected? If that's the case Fleury absolutely needs to be moved.

If its 4 years then probably 4.5. Can't compare to Depres. Depres is mostly rfa years versus Dumoulin UFA years. And dumoulin is a lot better player. Paul martin got 4 years 4.85. I think thats a closer comparable and Dumoulin is younger and becoming that player.

What is a team has more players with NMCs than the allowed protection spots? Or are we only talking full NMCs?

No it sounded like any NMC. But I don't know that just sounds wrong. GMs give partial NMCs out like its candy. A full NMC only exists if the player also has a full NTC.

Primanti's, Police Station and Burgatory are on the visit list. Possibly going to game 5 and spending the weekend in Pitt if the Pens go up 3-1 in the series

Paul Martin always put up ~30 points a year. Dumoulin put up 9 points this year and only missed two games. He's putting up "stay at home" defenseman numbers without being a prototypical crease clearing, hard hitting, shot blocking, gritty guy. I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve 4-5 mil a year, he's a really good player who embodies the modern day defensive defenseman. But these are things GMs look at and he's currently an undervalued commodity.

Any way we could get Murray on a new deal with a limited NMC before expansion draft time?

Edit: I mean the expansion draft should be after the 16-17 season. So the 2017 off-season they will hold it. Murray will be a RFA and need a new deal. So if we give him a NMC and Fleury still has one we need not worry.

No because you can't give clauses until their restricted free agency years are over.

I realize this is probably blasphemy but am I the only one that thinks Primanti's is overrated?
