8.5M in Tampa = 9M in Detroit and 9.75M in Toronto
So if Toronto offered 11Mill - he would be leaving close to 10mill on the table.
Like I said, TB will have to offer close to 10M if they want to keep Stamkos.
Say Goodbye. - Cooshie
Tampa can also offer 8 years other teams can only offer 7 years |

Yeah, big deal. When he is 33, he still has another big contract coming and will probably get more $$'s at that time (shorter term) with the cap increasing.
If it were 10yrs vs 7yrs, I could see that making the difference, but not 8 vs 7.
Stamkos is Toronto bound. |

He is a stellar player with epic skill and I'm saying this before he leaves. Having said that, he's worth a hellava lot, but considering who we could lose, he's not worth all of them. |

As a Leaf fan this is good news. I believe he is now past his prime. Big bucks for the next seven years could cripple the team when the likes of Marner, Nylander and Matthews need to be paid in 3-4-5 years - EugenesAxe

Stamkos cannot be insured. So the team that signs him for 7-8 years and 9-11 mill is taking a huge financial risk. Both in terms of cap and actual cash.
I can only think of one team that is in desperate need of Stamkos and doesn't give two (frank)s about throwing around the cash.
Anyone care to venture a guess as to which team i'm talking about? - 13LEAFS01

The money argument is silly, A successful run as a Maple Leaf would result in a lifetime of endorsment deals he could only dream of as a member of the Lightning. Case in point the Tie Domi commercials advertised across Canada. If it's money he wants, he will be coming to Toronto. |

Stamkos should go for the biggest contract offered in the place where he can capitalize financially on being a star the most.
To me,thats Toronto..
...and after that signing they are only a couple of D , a goalie and a year or two of system development away from being contenders.
Do you know how many GMC's and Big Mac's he could sell in Canada? |

It was mentioned in Philly media today that flyers are interested in bishop. Would neuvirth and a prospect and or 2nd rounder get it done ? Tampa gets a capable back up at low cap hit and still has a formidable tandem giving them the flexibility to resign Stamkos Hedman etc and adding either a prospect or ours or a prospect in the draft. Flyers get the true number one hextall seems to believe we still need. (He has never seemed to like mason as a #1). These teams have a history of making trades together and they did take Carle Coburn off our hands. |

Bishop should be able to at least get a 1st, based on the Miller and Schneider trades, anyway. |
