Did anyone else just watch what Tampa did in the playoffs with Stamkos? Don't let him hold you over the fire. Tampa is a great team without him and has an amazing track record when it comes to developing talent and building a roster.

I don't discuss/visit Tampa blogs often, but has the idea of moving Tyler Johnson been discussed? Yes Hedman and Bishop are due to be paid, but so are Johnson, Kucherov, and Palat correct? I feel Johnson could be their best asset to move in an effort to keep Stamkos, while getting a solid return back whether it be pick(s) and prospect(s). This is idea would also still move Bishop as well.

Rumor has it the team is being relocated to Quebec because hockey doesn't belong in Florida.

Yes we all did, but could you imagine letting a player at Stamkos' level and at his age just walk away via free agency getting absolutely nothing but his crop dust? Especially when Stevie Y could have flipped him at the deadline. Obviously it was tough scenario to decide then and there; and I don't think anyone expected a Stamkosless team to make it that far (if I recall people were picking the Wings to win.) But if God forbid Stamkos walks, AND he happens to sign with a team in same division (you never know), then there are going to be some furious fans and owners.

Sure, but what does that amount to? a few million?
Maybe he'll take a home discount by offering a few million total savings, no chance it's going to be close to a $10million savings.

Just not going to happen.

And even then, He might not offer $1 savings - you know he is going to wait to hear how much others are willing to pay before letting TB make one last offer.

IMO - less than 50% chance he returns to TB.

I don't think its that big a deal for Tampa. They have a very deep team. And some team will pay crazy money for guy with a history of blood clots who is likely in and soon leaving his prime.

You think about teams that would trade for him at the TDL, and usually its playoff teams, but what playoff teams could fit that kind of cap hit in (even if it was prorated)?

well he was well over a PPG player for a while. averaging 90-95 point pace. last 2 seasons, he's averaging under 70 and putting up Max Pacioretty numbers. it's fair to question whether he's finished as an elite player based on those numbers.

Actual Numbers:
8.5M in Tampa = 9M in Detroit and 9.75M in Toronto

So if Toronto offered 11Mill - he would be leaving close to 10mill on the table.
Like I said, TB will have to offer close to 10M if they want to keep Stamkos.

Say Goodbye.

Ek, please, I need to know which lopsided trade the Canucks will make next.

Is Benning looking to acquire a 2nd to really tip the scales?

Not sure how they make it happen, but I think the Rangers will be a player for Stamos. They're always right smack dab in the middle of this.

I think Rangers or Habs get him.

Stamkos is a dummy if he signs with TML. If he cares about winning, he goes to a team with a legit shot in the next few years. TML prob won't be competitive for 2-3 years and thats just competitive, that doesn't mean close. If he wanted to win, he will go somewhere that winning is a possibility soon.

If he didn't have these lingering health concerns, I would suggest doing a Hossa and signing a 1-2 year deal somewhere and trying to win, then going home after.

But, thats a massive gamble. If I'm Toronto, I pass on Stamkos, keep rebuilding and go all in for Tavares when he is a UFA.

There's no way Tampa keeps Stamkos. The team was pretty dominant in the playoffs without him (until Murray) and his health is an issue. He's an unnecessary luxury.
