It's peanuts right now but they weren't pleased with his year this year overall and all the injuries. If he get's injured frequently again this year they may cut ties with him instead of signing him to an extension. Make or break year for him.

I think there's a chance that we see more in the coming years. With players impacting teams at younger and younger ages than ever before and with players never making it to market the only way you're going to get them is to overpay in a trade, or sign an offer sheet and give up some lotto tickets. I'd take option B.
