I woke up today feeling really pissed that Marleau didnt get a game for that hit on Rusty. If he isnt able to go tonight thats a big blow to us and with it being a direct hit to the head identical to Letang's hit (which garnered a suspension), the league should have taken a closer look at it. Bunch of (frank)ing ass clowns.
Either way, LGP tonight boys. They cant hang with our speed and lets remind them of that all night tonight! - thickman1178
This. Play like the first and third period all game long and they stand no chance. Tired of giving up two goal leads. Stay relentless and hungry for a whole game. LGP |

Read on DK that Rust, Sheary, and Kuhnhackl have accounted for 18% of our goals this post season. Just... WOW! |

I believe in Beau on the ice. I just dont believe he can stay there long. - MattStrat
If Rust is out, then hopefully the extra day off before game 3 will be enough time for him to come back. |

Not bad for average AHL players, like the TB fan called them.

SJ is a very good team. That said, if the Pens play an entire 60 minutes, not just 40, SJ wouldn't stand much of a chance. Agree ... the can't match our speed. They didn't play a team in the play-offs that comes close to matching our speed. We did play a team in the play-offs that mirrors SJ though in many regards - Washington.

Just saw that Cole was a -17 before he started getting scratched in January. Since he became a regular again, he's +22 |

60 minutes of the type of energy/attack mentality we got in the 1st period and most of the 3rd & the Sharks are calamari (shut up, you know what I mean). They just can't let score-effect kick in. They got a 2-0 lead? They damn well shouldn't even dare be satisfied. Want it to be 10-0. Run up the score. Attack. And then attack. And then when they're done with that? Attack some more. The defense is pretty good but it can't protect a lead. This teams best defense is still having the puck on its stick in the offensive zone & creating chaos & scoring chances in the offensive zone. |

I liked Cullen's quote about being really disappointed in their 2nd period play. Thats the kind of veteran words that spread through a locker room, especially to the rookies. I expect a full 60 mins tonight from everyone. |

The Phil's been awfully quiet for a while. I'm calling a streaking wrister from that goober beating Martin Jones far side tonight. |

While I do agree that Letang isn't the dominant force that you would expect from a player of his calibre on the PP (he should score more than he does) and he does make some questionable decisions with the puck... there is NO WAY you take him off the top PP unit. Not just because you don't want to piss him off, but because of the other side of things.
How many times have you seen him, dive, jump or knock a puck out of the air to save a clearing attempt and keep the puck in the zone that should easily have been 200 feet away? How many times have you seen the opponent go on a shorthanded break only to have Letang catch up and swat the puck away or straight up steal it?
I don't trust Schultz or anyone else on our D corps to come even close to providing that element. |

There's times I think he can still get past the defender and be one on one with the goalie but he opts for that wrister, which I cant totally blame him for, its a deadly shot. Just once though Id like to see him go all the way in and try and deck/beat the goalie. |

Your reporting is so biased that you lose all credibility. The "blindside" hit? Ok, yeah it was from behind. Re-watch the play. He makes contact with his chest first, the head was secondary and only happened because Rust was leaning and was lowered. Every time a Penguins player gets touched you want a suspension. And as part of the second part of your paragraph, yes the league did review the hit, and they felt no supplementary discipline was needed. Game 1 was a great game and the third period was awesome. I hope we have more games like that in store coming up. - BernieKorch
He actually says it both ways.. it's never just when a Pens player gets touched.. he just wants consistency... |

I actually was thinking about this after the last game. The Pens have typically won 2 of 3 periods in the majority of their wins during this run. I like our chances if we win 40 minutes of play. As the old saying goes... The other team is on scholarship too.
Granted, It would be nice when we have a bad period that it's not really bad like Monday. |

Similar to Vlasics nickname "Pickles" did we just happen upon a nickname for Rust -- "Potatoes?"
