Who has a baby during the finals? Very unprofessional. Typical Russian, just cares about himself.

“Ulf was my roommate for eight years,” Francis said. “We were traded to Pittsburgh together, won a couple of Cups together.

“He was the closest thing I had to a brother in the NHL. We’ve spent a lot of time together through the years. Our families are close, we’ve had vacations together. We’re excited to have him in our organization.”

I wish Malkin would have signed for 7.171M

I think hockey is the game where its the most difficult for guys to take significant discounts, but it might even happen more than other sports. After taxes it isn't that easy to walk away from the NHL with significant wealth. Not like baseball where 4th starters earn the salaries of generational talents in the NHL.

Still intrigued by the Sharks cycle game. Most teams cycle so they can get down low near the net, the Sharks are completely opposite. They cycle down low to get the puck back to the point. Very different.

I remember when CGY offered Engellend 3 x $2.9m. Good times

I think theres a decent chance someone offers Schultz 4 years 16 million. He's not worth that yet, but he has a shot at making that a reasonable contract. That is probably close to the market for 4/5D 1st power play guy. My opinion is that's close to fair value for him since he offers potential of becoming a 3d. Depends a bit on how the cap shakes out.

Add in a premium for being a cup winning dman.

I think we have a decent shot at signing him for around 3.

From last blog:

That's been the narrative for (or against the Pens) alot of these playoffs... Other team didn't play to potential, Pens overachieving, etc.
- MattStrat

I hope it continues as well. Teams underestimating us thinking they just need to turn up & they will win.

Who gives a (frank) what the 'experts' think anyway? Silent overachievers (thanks Kreiderbomb ). Players start believing the hype, that's a great thing for the Pens team because they are being rag dolled in the press.

That first period was a thing of beauty. Too bad it was just typical pens overachieving.

Looked not even as good as the last two Tampa Bay games... I'd say the follow two periods were the more usual Penguins disappearing act.

That is an overly negative exaggeration, IMO. The third was more us than them. SJ is a very good team, BTW.
