Keeping the core intact is not the way to go, IMO. Aside of if it is rotten or not, the core has not worked, they can all be amazing and talented players but they are not clicking as a team, we need a shake up, and ideally we also get something really good (not like dumping Eberle for picks or something like that).

I agree with offer sheeting the crap at of Jones, but... let's use a core player to get somebody else.

Before the expansion draft Clarkson will be "retired" or bought out so he will not have to be protected (sucks that the team will have to eat his contract then, but they would do it.) They want to keep Foligno and Dubi anyhow. Hartnell will be figured out during the season. As soon as Edmonton and their fans figure out that you will have to give up some of your "core" to get better you might actually make a deal and get better.
David Savard+ for RNH could work. You want Jones, it will cost Hall, and you aren't doing that, and probably shouldn't.
Finally, the CBJ has no "dead money" in the form of buy-outs on their cap. Their management has not been nearly as bad as you say.

Johnson is streaky, but as a second pair with Savard is much better than gven credit for. Tyutin is a third pair guy at best, and was a terrible Scott Howson contract. Finally, Torts likes JJ, that is why he is on the US team. He ain'tgoing anywhere, whether his haters think he should or not.

This entire post us so ridiculous. There is zero percent chance any team get Seth Jones.....period. You don't trade your franchise forward for a franchise defencemen only to lose him to an offer sheet.

You realize they could deal a player with a draft pick so easy to make room....or simply buy out a contract or 2, it's that simple. You don't get young franchise defencemen with a offer sheet that isn't a gross overpayment.
