What's the longest the Hawks went without making the playoffs?

I think about 6 or 7 years , I have been a Hawk fan for over 50 years and the real lean years were in the late 90's to around 2007. In those times I never imagined we would win a Cup , let alone 3 in the past few years. Most knowledgeable fans know that the Oilers have a lot of good pieces and one fabulous piece (McDavid) in place but need to make a few daring moves to start the ball rolling.
