I don't know. I mean he still gets to play close to home, without the same intensity of media pressure and would save on tax dollars I imagine.
- golfingsince

He would have serial rapist and stalker Garth to contend with

I just see him wanting to compete for a cup now, not in 5+ years. He will want to be the #1C without any drama (ROR, Eichel are already locked in atm) and I feel that TB, Toronto and even teams in the west with cap space like Nashville having a better shot at signing him.

Adding Stamkos makes any team a contender IMO. Maybe not Toronto because we're so far behind on defense and goaltending still. Forwards are about 1-2 years away from being dangerous. UFA should be interesting this year.

I still think he stays in Tampa.

I'd say TB 50% TOR 25% rest of league 25%

you don't often hear about Stamkos's precipitous drop in offensive output the last 2 seasons. he went from a 95-point player to a 65-70 point player, and it's back to back years now. the idea of paying him $9-$10 million for the next 7 or 8 years is a bit scary.

he's basically been Max Pacioretty the last 2 years.

Yeah, but when the tripletts showed up his minutes went down a lot and he got used defensively more often. At the end of last season there was an info-graphic showing zone starts and production and Stamkos was one of the guys way to the left with defensive zone starts and Johnson was equally way to the right with offensive zone starts. He should have still produced at a better clip, sure; nevertheless, his usage changed and not in a favorable way.

Some Canucks fans really want him signed, i'm not one of them. His contract is a potential anchor down the road.
